I have a massive underbite. The gap between my top row of teeth and my back row of teeth is about 1.5 cm. Currently I do not have the money to have surgery.

This is merely a radical thought, but if I were to get a chin strap around my head and rig it so that it would push my jaw back while I slept, do you think it would help at all? Or is it really dangerous? I still wear braces (6 years now) so my teeth won't fall out of allignment when they get pushed back

Unfortunately, an underbite is not something you can fix yourself. Think about it-- if you could, wouldn't so many other people already be doing it?

The surgery is expensive, no doubt. But have you thought about applying for medical assistance, or some program along those lines? Most of the time, orthognathic (jaw) surgery is a necessity, if I'm not mistaken. Your case could very well be covered, cost-wise. If I were you, I'd talk with my orthodontist about my options. Good luck!

Read more. Unfortunate, unless cures make money for the medics they are suppressed.
