You need to find out what kind of a person he is first. Possibly your mother will share some information with you. If it is all negative, try to find other family members who knew him and quiz them.
Some fathers just don't want to be found. Often it's because they think you are after them for support back-payments. Often it's just that they have made new lives and don't want you disrupting things. Sometimes, sadly, they just don't care.
Most of us know at least one person who has sought out parents they've never met, only to be sorely disappointed when they do. Not the way things are supposed to turn out, but often the case.
Think about it carefully. You can always try to learn who and where your father is, and then decide if he's the sort of person you want in your life.
The very best of luck!

If you really want to try to find him then you need to make sure that you will be able to handle rejection if/when you do find him. Not that it is going to happen ineveitably but you will need to be prepared. My father left when I was a baby (I'm 22 now) and I know nothing about him only the trash my mom talked about him. A year ago I found where he was living and contacting him but he wanted nothing to do with me. He hurt so bad because I got excited about getting to know this person who was a part of me and I thought he want to know about the person I had become but he didn't even care. All I can say is to prepare yourself.

Only if you are prepared to be rejected or find a person that might dissapoint you. Often it turns out badly, if you are prepared for these things, then go ahead, but be prepared to know your longing thoughts of how it should be as a reunion might be terribly hurtful and not what you are expecting. Be careful and look up his background also before you bring him into your world, you have no idea what kind of things he has done in his life and you do not want any problems.

your real father raised you...
if you want to know if you should find your biological father, only you can decide if you want to break your real fathers heart.

Information is good.
Check him out though thoroughly . Make sure he's somebody you'd want to find beforehand.
