True love isn't fleeting, it is more than a feeling. But yeah after so many years being with the same person the attraction and intimacy may be different. How do you keep the passion alive is really up to the couple. Both have to be creative and find ways to make it exciting as the first day they met. Communication also plays a vital role in any relationship. You find out your partners wants, etc. and can act upon it.

The flame burning; you are just referring to the sexual component in your relationship.
I don't think you need the negligee, candles and wine.
~:~ Laughter ~:~
You need to be able to laugh together.
If your time together is punctuated with laughter you will both be happier.
Ergo, if you are happy together, the flame stays bright.
EDIT: of course I could be wrong.
