You might try letting her wear them indoors for a short period
of time, that way she could get used to them on surfaces she
is used to walking on, then when she goes out she will be more confident with how to manuver in them. Good Luck

I have a toy poodle, too, and even though where I live it doesn't get very cold I do the same thing. Just keep a close eye on her and when she gets used to them you won't worry about her losing them.

I have booties for my Crested, every year when I get his boots out he walks funny in them, but he gets used to them, and he likes to trot around on the sidewalk and make tapping sounds with them.

i got clothes for my dog, who has very thin hair and almost visible skin, and all he ever did was try to take it off. i think if they want it, they will wear it (i know someone whose dog LOVES to wear stuff) and if not, then don't bother. seems to me that they can take it. i mean, how long are you leaving her in the cold? i would think that a short walk to do her business would be ok. but if you really think it's harming her, then by all means, just keep making her wear the darn things :)
