1) Flossing is really important; it gets rid of plaque that contributes to bad breath.
2) Change your brush every 3 months. Once the bristles are frayed or splayed out, the toothbrush is not as effective & can scratch your gums.
3) Get a tongue scraper or use your toothbrush to brush your tongue. Stuff collects on it & can cause bad breath.
4) Try alcohol free mouthwashes like Tom's of Maine, Breath Rx & Biotene mouthwash. Sometimes the alcohol in mouthwash is too harsh & leaves the mouth too dry.
5) Drink lots of water to make sure you have adequate saliva. Saliva helps keep your mouth clean.
6) Eat breath friendly herbs like fresh parsley & mint. Don't eat breath mints w/ sugar. Bacteria feeds on the sugar & generate sulfur which contributes to bad breath.
7) If you have allergies, take care of them. Post nasal drip can be a source of bad breath.
If none of these things help check w/ your dentist & physician.

You may just suffer with bad breath. Some people suffer migraine headaches, poor vision, and other health problems that they can't do anything about. My grandmother & brother had bad breath. Some things are hereiditary and something are just so. It can be a henderance & embarrassing. Count your blessings if it is not painful to you (to your friends though). Be careful of keeping mints in your mouth because over a period of time that will decay your teeth as well. The best thing is to check with your dentest, you may suffer with bleeding of the gums. When you brush your teeth & blood is present that is a MAJOR problem. Just getting your gum clean does not help. Blood can be present all the time even if you don't see, but you can smell it. You can smell my grandmother's breath 3 feet away. She brush & brushed but to no avail. Feel free to do all that is suggested, but sometimes our bodies does not do what we would like. Go to the hospital & visit people that has REAL health problems & you can see how minor just having bad breath is.

In addition to your teeth, you really need to brush the roof of your mouth and your tongue as well. Most of the odor-causing germs are on the soft tissues of your mouth, not your teeth.
A good rinse with listerine a couple times a day is an additional measure you can take if the above doesn't work, and it's a good addition to oral health.
If you still have bad breath and your dental health is fine, then you could have an undiagnosed case of heartburn/acid reflux. Some atypical signs of acid reflux are sore throat, coughing, feeling like there is a lump in your throat, or gagging. Acid reflux can give you bad breath.

You've been given a lot of good advice here but I think I'll add to it too!
I dont know if your living in the UK or not but there is a really brilliant toothpaste called Retardex that has been working brilliantly for me since I began using it 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure if your living outside the UK you will be able to get it too? Its quite expensive (its about £9 in the UK) but its well worth it and it lasts for ages. Its also not very strong/minty so it burns your mouth away!
Also, brushing your tounge as others have said and flossing. Oh and mouthwashes! Retardex also do a brilliant mouthwash!

First and obvious answer is....that you may have some decay in your mouth which a dentist can remove
But I know what you mean and how it can feel
Try this rinse: (2-4 times a day)
Mix a cup of hydrogen peroxide and water (equal amounts), rinse mouth (swish it around), and spit out.....then wait about 30 seconds and rinse your mouth out with a mixture of salt and water (salt water)---spit out
---be sure to spit it all out each time (do not swallow)
Do this for about 2-3 weeks....then instead of using the hydrogen peroxide and water mixture, use Listerine instead (not a substitute but Listerine).----followed by the salt water mix. Spit out.
If you can, it is definitely suggested you try to go to a dentist---find a nice one you like. A dental cleaning will cost about $150 (more or less) which you can pay for without insurance. For an extra fee, you can get some "laughing" gas before the cleaning to loosen you up (make you feel good). And for another fee, you can have the dentist numb your mouth so you basically feel nothing.
While I was getting my teeth cleaned, I kept singing songs inside my head...made me feel more relaxed (don't focus on what they are doing).
But I hope you will feel better and I know what you are going through....I hope this helps some

do you floss? A lot of people dont realize it but plaque and gunk between the teeth can cause some of that horrible smell. If you do floss regularly then I would recommend BreathRX, a brand they sell at drug stores. I work at a dental office and this stuff is great. Also make sure you are drinking lots of water, sometimes the bad smell is being expelled from you lungs and actually has nothing to do with you mouth.

Have you been to a dentist for deep cleaning? You probaly have gingivitis, or gum disease. It doesn't matter how much mouth wash you use, you will still have bad breath until you have your teeth cleaned. There is built up plague under your gum line that a tooth brush cannot reach and that is what is causing your smelly breath. Once your dentist cleans your teeth, your mouth will feel so much better!!

Buy a tung scrapper. Use it before you brush your teeth. It isn't very much, probably no more than two dollars. also, floss. One of the main reasons that you have bad breath is because there is food particles in between your teeth that are rotting. I know it sounds gross, but its true.

There are a few different things that can cause bad breath. One possibility is gingivitis. Also, you could have some medical problem like acid reflux disease. I have also read that bad breath is a consequence of doing the Atkins diet. You should ask your doctor or your dentist about this.
