The effexor may not be working for you, you may seek another doctor's opinion and get another treatment plan going for you, effexor stopped working for me as well, I was on paxil too, and finally I'm on celexa which has been a blessing! I know its hard what you are going through, people can be bold, they don't need to know your preference, it is your business only.

You need to stop worrying about what others will think. In the big picture of life, in the end, all you really have is yourself and you need to make decisions in your life that make you happy. You need to know you did your best in life and at the end of it feel peace. People out there are not going to be around you always. They are judgemental and really should not be. We are all different and it is not right to judge. Be happy with who you are. It is not about pleasing the world. Cause no harm and go on with your life. Be happy. If you are truly gay, you have a long life to live that way, that is who you are. It is not not a bad thing. To love is to love.

I would change your doctor if I was you. I am not sure that that medication is working. I am not a doctor, but my son suffers from anxiety and Zoloft seems to work really well on him when nothing else does. Plus, I have a friend who's child had some very bad effects from that med. If it is not helping you and you are feeling depressed and so on...you NEED to change to somehting else. Within the first month or so you should have noticed a difference. Second opinion is a good idea.

A good doctor would realize that every medication is not the same for every patient. It took almost two years to find the right one for me. Some had horrible side effects for me. I would suggest that you travel to a larger town and speak with another psychiatrist about changing your medication.

You have nothing to be ashamed of, as far as your sexuality goes. If you can not take it, try getting a visa to work in the US where sexuality is not as much of an issue.
