If they get TOO cold, the sap freezes and they explode.

In the normal course of their lives and in the environment to which they are adapted, normal cold results in dormancy.
But TOO cold = ruptured tissue.

They hibernate for the winter.

Okay, basically, the chlorophyll in leaves isn't stable enough to function in colder temperatures. This is why the leaves change colour. If the trees can't absorb any sunlight through their leaves, they must go dormant for a while.

at very high temperature protoplasm become freeze and it's all protein like enzyme hormone etc became destroy.
so all the metabolically activity get off.
but dna remain in dormant condition,while all other organ reduces but not destroy completely.SO AT SUITABLE COndition they regain again
