My favorite soup is one I make myself: Italian sausage soup. Make a pot of beef or ham broth, add some crumbled, good Italian sausage (preferably low-fat), any seasonings you like (I use a little salt, black and red pepper, and oregano), add either pasta or diced potatoes, any veggies you like (I like a frozen blend of peas, carrots, corn and green beans) and simmer until pasta is tender and sausage is done. Just delicious and really hits the spot during winter.

split pea and ham is a favorite..i always add a tiny bit of liquid smoke towards the end of cooking to give it a great smoky flavor.

another great soup is Mario Batali's Sicilian Minestrone... extremely good and healthy. Everyone in my house loves it
