I've got two cats and have tried many litters that claim odor elimination and most do a pretty good job. But none really work great. For REALLY eliminating the odor without fragrances and irritants, here's an inexpensive and fragrance free product that is FANTASTIC that I use and know so many other people that use it for litter box and other animals. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers that I think originally made for fridge odors (makes sense) -little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is great and eliminates odors for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda and litter with carbon, and all those sprays, gels and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Just clip a couple to litter box and forget about it. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I know you can buy direct easily within just a few days which is what I do. It's easy and fast Just email to -customerservice@innofresh.com and they will send order form. I think also camping world.
Definitely worth trying

I have tried and like the Feline Pine and Yesterdays News. I like the way they absorb the urine and break down in a sawdust like powder. Great odor control, easy to clean the boxes. They are both pellet like. The Feline Pine is tan and the Yesterday's News is gray.
Now, if I could just get the "bosses" to see it the way I do! The cats (aka the bosses) like Fresh Step Multi-Cat clumping litter. They don't misbehave when I try a new litter, they just vocalize their disapproval, so I don't push it!

Just remember to use an unscented kitty litter- cats don't like perfumy smells and will avoid the litter box if it stinks like a Bath and Body Works store- mix baking soda in with your litter to minimize odor and clean your cat box with bleach!

Plain unscented clay, changed frequently-dump the whole thing twice a week. Costs like $4 for 50 lbs. You'll never get rid of all the odor unless you get rid of all the litter. Clumps and deodorizers just mask it. Bleach, plain dish soap, and baking soda are fine to use as cleaners amd deodorizers, but don't use Lysol. The phenols in Lysol are toxic to cats

Arm &Hammer kitty litter and just clean it regularly. usually it doesnt matter what type you use as long as you're not lazy and clean the litter box or scoop it a couple times a week. try clumping litter too or that crystalizing carbon stuff from tidy cat it works great

Arm and Hammer brand gets both thumbs up from me. I foster a lot of cats/kittens for rescue. It scoops cleaner, really no odor unless you just really let it pile up bad. A box seems to last so much longer than most brands, maybe because it clumps so quick. The young kittens like the fine soft granules better.

I like the Tidy Cats mulit-cat scoopable litter. I get the 35lb tubs at Meijer when they are on sale for $9.99 otherwise they are around $12. It lasts at least a month for us and we have 3 cats. It minimizes odor, just scoop it whenever you get the chance.
The tubs are very nice for re-using for garbage cans, etc also!!

I like Feline Pine & Yesterday's News (both of these are pellets). You still have to scoop to minimize the smell. I wish that my cat was toilet trained or that I could put the litter box outside somewhere (like porch, balcony, deck, terrace - don't have any of these)

i use arm and hammer Super Scoop Multi Cat. I also use the arm and hammer deodorizer. it smells wonderful, and keeps my litter fresh and clean!
i also think the smell has a lot to do with what you feed your cat. the better the food, the less smelly, becuase they are eating less junk. thats just my opinion though.
