is there a walmart in the real city?

There is no Walmart in New York; the City Council doesn't want Walmart; New York doesn't want Walmart - the unions in New York don't want Walmart. They had plans to open a store in Queens, but, that fell through.

There are NO Wal-Marts in New York City. One person said Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream. There is another in Uniondale, on Hempstead Turnpike just east of the Nassau Coliseum.
If you are heading north there is a Wal-Mart in downtown White Plains (Main Street) and another one in Suffern (Rockland County). The nearest Super Wal-Mart that I know of is in Monroe, NY (Exit 16 - Rte 17/Harriman off the New York State Thruway - I-87)

There is one in Green Acres mall in Nassau County which is half a mile from the city line. Due to politics it will never be built in the city.

not within the city. i heard in the news that it is b/c the rent for the space they need within the city is too expensive for them, or something like that. but we do have target in the bronx, and a bunch of k-marts all over manhattan

Nope! But there IS a k-mart in Penn Station...if that's what you're looking for.

I just searched walmart.com and it didn't show any in New York City.

I am afraid not. In 2005, they were trying to get one here in Queens but us locals and environmental groups got in the way so it didn' go thru. :-)

Not that I recall, but there are two K-Marts in Manhattan.

no there aren't. there are targets in queens though.
