I'll soon be working in the financial district of Manhattan. I'd like to buy a condo (from $450,000 to $650,000) within 40 minutes of the WTC stop of the PATH train. Where's the best place to live in New Jersey for a couple and an infant within 40 minutes of the financial district?

you should live in bergen county. it is expensive but when ur infant gets older they have a very good school system and the police departments are very good.just take it from a person who has lived all around bergen county all my life.

Nutley in Essex county is very suburban, many condo options near Clifton side. Good schools, safe neighborhoods, lots of parks. However it's nestled between Clifton/Belleville/Bloomfield, and Belleville neighbors Newark. I lived in Nutley for two years and it is a nice place to live. I'm not sure how close it is to the path, but it is about a 20 or 25 minute drive into the city. I also agree with the other poster about Bergen county.

Morristown is a really lovely little town---out on Route 287 and an easy commute by train OR car into Manhattan.... it's a really pretty town with much of the old colonial architecture, really pretty condo communities and great schools.... I've been there MANY times and really like the town a LOT.... it's a great place close enough to the CITY to get to work on time yet far enough away so you can bring up your infant in a peaceful, suburban area with plenty of room to grow... and breathe. and no, I do NOT work for the Morristown Township Chamber of Commerce.... I actually live in Northern New YORK STATE.... (up by Lake George).

I would go with Bergen County (that's where I live). You should also look at the Montclair area.
