does coffee ever expiere.

It will taste like crap if it gets too old... it dries out.

I have read 20 minutes for ground coffee. Makes you wonder about pre ground?

40 days I think for beans. They go stale

Heat destroys the oils as well as time which is why you will see timers on commercial units and pump thermos at coffee shops.

It does expire. If you grind your coffee it last for about a week. If you leave it whole and grind it before you brew it, it obviously is going to last longer (I don't recall how much but I would say for about a month). Putting your coffee in the frig doesn't save your coffee any longer.
