American Christians never insults the God of the Bible in the person of Jesus Christ. North American Christians are saved under "Grace" (Ephesians 2:8-9) South American Christians are not yet save and so they keep on crucifying Christ and not contented, they go more inflicting by crucifying themselves, an intellectual suicide by allegorizing their vulgate bibles since the time of Justin Martyr AD150 to Tatian AD 175, to Clement of Alexandria AD 220 to Origen AD 300 where Jeromes vulgate bible translation got all the allegorical influence adopted by Constantine merging idolatry and the Bible. But the original Bible was preserved by the persecuted Waldenses who fled to the mountains, and the Nestorians, where the King James version of the Bible was translated in 1500AD, carried by the Pilgrims in 1600 to America.

How come some S. American Christians don't not crucify themselves during Easter like N. American Christians? Why do Germans eat larger breakfasts than Americans? Cultural differences, man. Who can explain 'em?

Well the truth about this is that Catholicism spread using the same techniques as the Roman Empire from which they came. What they would do is allow natives to keep their religious practices and customs and simply put "Christian" names on them. All was well as long as they were loyal to the Pope and the local church authority.
This is why we have "Mardi Gra" and in South America you have Carnival. both voodoo in their roots and reality, both "Christian" in names.
So the local cultures had pagan practices of self mutilation and got a Christian name. Check out the The Penitente in New Mexico. Same deal.
edit-- BTW this is why Christmas is celebrated on Dec 25th with trees and stuff from the pagans and why we have something called "Easter" with the eggs to begin with. Both pagan things with Christian names to subdue the locals.

Good question. Also, why don't they ever name their kids Jesus?
P.S. The "we're not insane" argument loses some of it's power when you realize that some American christians handle poisonous snakes as part of a religious ceremony.
P.P.S. The link below refers to the Philipines, not South America, but I'm sure a bit more searching would find additional citations.

Gumby:
Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover
Some small congregations in the USA use this as a reason to handle poisonous snakes.

I've seen it on tv. They probably believe that by experiencing what Christ went through it honors Him to do it as well. I don't know if that flatters God too much. Just sounds kind of violent, we're supposed to take care of our bodies.Aren't we supposed to be the temples of the Holy Spirit?
