Today I had an appointment in this tiny office with my 6 month old son. There was this little girl that ran up to us and she wanted to see the baby. I noticed that she had a funky looking bald spot on her head and I got a little worried so I told her the baby was sleeping so she would go away. Turns out my mommy's intuition was right. A lady came out right after the girl left and she sprayed down everything. I asked her what was going on and she tol me that the girl had had ringworm. My son never left his car seat so I'm not that worried about him. But I was sitting in a chair that she migh have been in. So it could have been on my clothes... and the more I think about it, the more I itch. My head is unusually itchy and my back needs constant scratching. How long does it usually take for signs of ringworm to appear from the time of contact? I know what to look for, I just don't know the time line.

I believe the incubation period for ringworm, if I remember correctly, is 4-7 days. I certainly hope you don't have it. Ringworm, by the way, is not a worm, but a fungal infection, like athlete's foot. It's called "worm" because of the raised lesions it makes on the skin. If you got the fungus on your clothes, you should be able to kill it by washing your clothes with bleach and hot water.
