I need the scientific name of many plants along with interesting facts about the plant.

Woody plants are generally trees, vines, and shrubs. There are approximately 10,000 species of trees worldwide and America has 680 native tree species not counting introduced and naturalized trees. There are several thousand species of vines. Have not seen a website that will just let you browse through tens of thousands of species of woody plants when I did a yahoo search. Most of those require you to enter a specific genus and species in their database or to narrow it down some or to choose a tree or shrub or vine or limit it by whether it is perennial, annual, biennial, and so forth. You might want to narrow it down to say deciduous trees of the US for example, to be able to just browse through them. Even those are extensive.

The Texas Smartscape website has scientific & common names, photos and some information about native and adapted Texas plants. Just look at the various tree listings.
I am sure there are similar websites for other regions.

I just typed in the word woodyplants into yahoo search and got a big list of sites. Some were colleges so I think you should be able to find all you need. You do have a computer with yahoo access don't you.
