They were bred for dog fighting since 200 years ago. With 2000 breeds of dogs to choose from why would you choose a pitbull which are in the news constantly about attacking PETS and KIDS or GRANNIES or even their OWNERS! Insurance companies wont insure your house for financing and most apts wont take them so they are dumped in the shellters where a million are put to sleep every year. They attack suddenly without warning and wont stopp until the victim is lifeless. England and Australia have banned them as well as scores of cities. So why would one buy such a dog?

I totally agree! I almost got attacked like less than 30 minutes ago, but my dog saved my life.

Pit bulls are totally vicious. Not all of them are though. Some people bring them up to be nice dogs, others however don't.

Even so, sometimes even the dnicest of dogs will attack unexpectedly.

I have a total fear of big attack dogs such as pit bulls (my #1 fear), rottweilers, great danes, and german shepherds.

I also agree that cities should ban them. A death rate by dogs is mostly by pit bulls, and if you just so happen to get lucky enough to get away from an attacking pit bull, then it'll just want more.

There's nothing anyone can do about it, because that's just how dogs are.

They are super scary.

But this is just MY opinion. Some people will say they're super friendly, some people will say they're super vicious.

I'm a super vicious one.

Ciao!

1)If you look back into most breeds lineage they were used for some form of blood thirsty battle. The Pitt isn't able to be singled out there. English Bulldogs were bull-baiters.
2)ANY dog is capable of an attack. The raising, training, and socialization they are brought up with has more effect than the breed. Is a Pitt the only breed you've ever heard of on the news involved in an attack? They are responsible for approx. 1/3 of all bites reported which leaves another 2/3. In October of 2000 a 6 week old baby was mauled to death by the family Pomeranian. Now there's a dangerous breed.
3)Where do you get that there are 2000 breeds to choose from?
4)The right owners choose a Pitt because they are loyal, obedient, intelligent, affectionate, and healthy dogs. Banddog Dread, a Pitt, currently holds the record for most working titles ever recieved by any breed.

Pitts have recieved a bad name because of inhumane, cruel people that choose to own and breed them for all the wrong reasons. They are great dogs in the hands of responsible, dedicated, loving owners. The behaviors we hear of in the news are because of bad people and in no way, shape, or form does the fault lie with the breed. People like yourself form an opinion based little on fact and more on the media. You choose not to look at a responsible owner's example of the breed and instead look toward a cruel moron's example. The dog suffers in all this. What dog would choose to be bitten, bleed, and die? People don't give them a choice. I believe all Pitts should be adopted through responsible agencies that will dig into every bit of the person's life to ensure a good home for the Pitt where it will be a family member. This breed needs to be protected from people, not the other way around.

People buy pits for pets because they are an excellent bred of dog if you want a dog that will protect you with its life. It is true that MOST insurance companies won't insure your home if you own a pitbull but there are more violent breeds than pits. The only time people hear about pits is when there's been an attack. My boyfriend had a pit when his son was very little and he protected and loved that boy, but because of people that beat and force their dogs to fight, he had to give him up. And, to my knowledge, there are no shelters that kill dogs.

Stop talking about this !!! There is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners !!! I hate the fact that this breed is always looked down upon because of these soo called " pit attacks " , But have you actually ever owned one or met one ??? Do you just listen to crap the media gives you ? I would never listen to the media when a soo called " pit bull attack " happens because i know almost 85% of the time there another breed of dog that was misread by a pit bull or not even a pit bull at all . The media wants you to be afraid because they know that when you hear a pit bull attacking someone the first thing that will come to peoples mind is that " WOW GEE THESE DOGS ARE REALLY MEAN !" . I guarentee you that if a lab , beagle , golden , or any other breed attacked someone it would only hit local news because people think those breeds are precious and sweet ... But god knows ive had my share of dogs when i was young and they were all horrible awful horrible . But hey i put up with it for 4 years !!! Pits are sweet dogs and deserve a chance . And any dog can attack without a warning . I volunteer at the shelter almost eery saturday and i found out that there are more aggressive labs than pits .And besides the media cant even tell the difference between a real apbt and a bullmastiff ... These dogs make very sweet pets and im glad i own one .....

Because of these irresponsible dog owners, Pitbulls obtain a name as "dangerous breed". Also, media only broadcast the Pitbull attacks, but not other breeds. Under this kind of influence, how can you expect the general public to think that they are good dogs? I've seen Pitbulls are sweeties. You have to think about one thing, dogs attack with a reason. If you train, supervise and raise your Pitbull right, your Pitbull is a good dog.

actually pit bulls were bred for a sport called bull baiting. and y dont u even want to give them a chance. i was attacked by a poodle when i was a kid. does that give me the right to bash the breed. i have seen stories of labs and goldens and eve cocker spaniels attacking people. give the dogs a chance. its like me not giving u a chance in the world because ur 3rd cousin twice removed killed somone ten years ago. is that right. no. not at all. y r u so against a dog that u havent even met. u always base all ur questions on facts and news stories. but have ever experienced the love that these dogs give. have u ever experienced being loved by any dog at all. go ahead ban the breed. but guess what. when the r banned people will just go after all the other breeds.

You have no idea what your talking about. We've never had any problem with our homeowners insurance and we did just in fact, refinanced our home, with no problem. We don't live in a trailer or in a slummy neighborhood....and before I moved home...lived in a very nice apartment that didn't mind one bit that I have an 86lb APBT. My family has had the breed as long as I can remember and never got bit or growled at, and the neighborhoods pets and children have never ended up missing. Why don't you actually get to know one of these wonderful dogs and learn that facts instead of getting sucked into the medias whirlwind of hear say?
