You should go talk with your doctor...

Heartburn often comes from things you shouldn't be eating (brownies etc.) so it may actually work in your favor. Of course, everyone gets heartburn from different foods, so I can't tell you for sure what will be OK for you.

If you are looking for something sweet - applesauce is good. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it wont until you change your diet a bit... once you eat healthier things you will realize how sweet fruit actually is.

If you really like icecream, you can try the skinny cow products. I can honestly say this was one of my first switches in my diet - I really don't taste much of a difference. The only problem with skinny cow is its more expensive.

Lean cuisine has some good stuff. The chicken penini is quite good.

Switch to baked, boiled, or grilled meats. Cut back on red meat, and make sure any that you eat is Lean (at least 90%).

I think the best thing to get into your head at dinner time is that 2/3 of your plate should be green. Basically, you should be eating 2/3 veggies at dinner.

65% of your calories should come from fruits and veggies.

You could try sparkpeople.com (free site), it has a lot of really good weight loss tips. I use it, and I find it very helpful.

You can eat anything you want, but the trick is not to overeat at meals.

Another thing people do to lose weight safely is to eat about 6 to 8 times a day, small amounts each time. Eat slowly, then when you feel full, stop. Don't eat any more.

I also have chronic heartburn, caused by Acid Reflux. I keep mine under control with the Medication Rabeprazole, which must be prescribed by a Doctor. I continue eating what I want, but now without the worry of heartburn.

If you're going be a thin person, then you have to think like a thin person. Learn to be hungry and like it. You can probably eat about anything you want and not get heartburn, if you are are eating small portions; heartburn is the result of pressure your bloated stomach and intestines put on other organs, like heart, lungs, and liver. Stop filling your tank. Eat just enough to get you to the next gas station. Stop making every meal an indulgence of the senses. Most meals should be just fuel for the machine, not the highligh of the day.

You have to choose between the pleasures of the table and the pleasures of being thin.

Some changes can be really easy. For example, if you are a "sauce person", try using even slightly less on everything... from mayo, to salad dressing, to ketchup. If you use a lot of oils and margarine in cooking, switch to different type or try pam. As for sandwiches, use a little less butter, cheese whiz, jam... you get the idea.

As for drinks, try eating fresh fruit instead of juice. Drink flavoured water or even diet pop (lots disagree with this but it's a personal preference) instead of pop.

Try downsizing your portions by even the slightest bit.

These are just a few things you can do everyday which will really add up in the end, and will also help with your heartburn! Since you aren't cutting out these things, it'll be easier - you are just using a little less.

Good luck.

You can eat everything, you just have to eat in moderation. Limit the size of your servings. Eating breakfast is a must.
Try eating breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between, so that you don't get too hungry before your next meal. You should stay away from fast foods, fried foods and spicy foods...
Drink lots of water.

lots of veggies, go light on the meat, eliminate sweets and really fatty snack food, reduce the food you eat at meals that has a lot of fat in it. Reducing the fat from your diet may also reduce your heartburn. Basically if you reduce your caloric intake, you will start losing weight, you should excercise as well though to lose weight.
