my daycare had a monitor in the classrooms and at any point during the day, i could go on the internet and hear and see what was going on.

i would like to see that in every classroom across the country. it would be a check and balance for everyone. if my child isn't doing what he's supposed to be doing, i see it. if the teacher isn't, i see it.

Totally agree! Kids don't need privacy in school. They are there to learn. I would want to be able to watch my child. If you have a child who likes to skip school then you would be able to check on them... Also if something were to happen then you could review the tape... I think it is a great idea!!!!!

Ok first of all how would you like it if you were being watched 24/7 by a video camera? Just because we are talking about children doesn't mean that they don't deserve respect and some amount of privacy. Not to mention the teachers. Would you like a bunch of people watching you and im sure criticizing everything you do at work?

Secondly, you need to let go of your child a little bit you can't watch him every second of every day. You need to trust that you have taught him well and that he will make good decisions and behaive well. What would happen when suddenly the cameras went off?

And lastly, would you really want constant video footage of your child on the INTERNET? So any "parent" or whoever feels like hacking in could be getting their jollies by watching a classroom full of children? sick.

No, I'd hate it. As a student, we're already monitored 24/7. We even have swipe cards to get around in our buildings. It's HORRIBLE. The security is way over done, video cameras would be absolutely wretched. Because not only are we being video taped in the halls, but in the classrooms as well. I think that's just too far into the invasion of privacy. Sure, I can understand daycares, kinda sorta. Your children know you're watching them at home, let them have some time on their own, please. We have feelings too and we don't like being watched all the time. It's creepy.

lol that sucks! its like your mum could be watching you 24/7 you could never get away! AAHHHH
Nah it would be good though cz then if a teacher is being lazy or like a fight happens or anything like that they can see it. But it shouldnt be able to be viewed on the internet or anything. Maybe like the schools could have a site and the parents logon with a pword and stuff and can watch.

Good idea. I'd like to see it on the list of things schools have, but who's going to pay for it? What will happen is that only schools in wealthy school districts with the best teachers will have them, and poor school districts will still have textbooks that teach desegregation as a future possibility.

If you're willing to fund that sort of a massive undertaking, go for it. Meanwhile, I'm going to focus on making sure my students get enough to eat, have the supplies they need for school, and receive adequate health care.

i agree and disagree. this would be very expensive, and where i live the school district just couldnt afford it. this would not only be expensive to install but expensive to run. it cant really be done to many classrooms and not enough people to run it, video feeds are hard to keep up with n that large of a scale

i do agree though it would be nice to monitor my son since we are having some serious issues with adjusting and behavior it would be nice to watch him at school and see exactly whats happening.

I like the idea, but I know it will never happen. Do you really think the teachers union would allow it?.
