What are the laws regarding transportation of pets across the border into Canada?

I have a dog and I'm relocating to another state, but I'll be traveling through Canada. What steps do I have to take to be able to bring my dog into Canada?

The dog needs to be in good health and you just need to bring along papers showing the dog has its rabies shots.

I took my dog to and from the States and was never asked anything about him.

I had my paperwork that said I owned him, and his medical history with proof of shots just incase they asked.
