Jesus Christ did not receive a fair trial. Neither did hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of anonymous Jewish rebels who faced crucifixion at the hands of the Roman regime.
Some ancient theologians made the claim that Jesus was tried by Jewish, and not Roman, authorities. If he had been, he probably would have received a much better trial with the Romans. Be that as it may ... Most of the titles attributed to Jesus were actually political titles over which Roman authorities claimed a monopoly. "Son of God," for example, was reserved for the Emperor Augustus, adopted son of the allegedly divine Julius Caesar. "King of the Jews" was reserved for Herod Antipas, Rome's handpicked tetrarch of Galilee. If crowds of Jewish citizens started calling an itinerant preacher by these names, Roman officials might want to reassert their turf. So one wonders if he would be considered innocent, even with a "fair" trial!

You are missing the whole
point. Jesus was not trying to
save his life. He came here
to LOSE HIS LIFE to save ours!
He knew before he left
Heaven what He was going to
do...In fact, He volunteered for it. He volunteered his
life to the Father in exchange
for salvation for us. Is that
love?
He did not have to take on
a human body. He did not
have to come and save
mankind. He could have
left mankind to rot and fester
in its own degradation (as it
is now) until the humans
killed themselves and went
into desolation. God did not
make humans just to turn
around and give them to His
arch-enemy SATAN. He
made a way and that way
was Jesus. If you really
understand what Jesus did,
you will understand that for
every pain and/or indignity
that He suffered, It gained
US a special blessing here,
in our lifetime. For instance,
the stripes He took on His back was payment for our
healing! Yes, you can be
divinely healed.
Even after His body was killed, He took up his divine
body and spent 40 days
still walking the earth and
ministering to his disciples,
before He totally left us and
went home...but He left us
His Spirit -to be the same,
and to do the same-as Him.

I'm not sure he WAS innocent. The primary reason the Romans had for crucifying him was that he claimed to be a king, which in their minds was blatant disloyalty to the emperor, and a threat to the pax romana.
But I suppose if Jesus had been able to prove that "his kingdom was not of this world" and was therefore not a threat to the Roman empire, and that his followers would not fight to defend him, and was therefore not a revolutionary movement,he may have been freed. That would be hard to prove, though.

No. He was sent to die plain and simple this was the plan from the beginning(literally and figuratively). Remember Pilot turned Jesus away because he did not find him guilty of anything. He was then sent back. So it really wouldn't have mattered He died because He came to redeem us. Had He not we would not be saved by grace.

Not in the times in which he lived. There was a lot of power against him. They had to give the people of that era a distraction. He just happened to be in the right(wrong) place at the right(wrong) time.

well here is the thing. The bible says that if you ask for forgiveness from your sins you will be saved, and in that go to heaven. It also says that in heaven things of this world will be forgotten to worship for eternity. so if the rapist-murderer actually sincerely accepts jesus then yes he will go to heaven. the victims wont remember anything about life on earth(moms, dads, or even a rapist-murderer)

Jesus is the "lamb of God"; He who had no sin became sin for us. He as the innocent, flawless lamb who's blood was shed for our sins. This was planned before the creation of the world to show His love for us. His crucifiction was predicted and planned hundreds and thousands of years before.

I don't think so. He was guilty, as he broke the Roman laws. It's Pilate, not Pilot..
