What do you do when the depression keeps coming back?
I've been depressed (major depression) for about 8 years now and for about 5 months I've managed to "get over it" and I was fine until now and I'm just kind of fed up with it. I don't know what to do. I'm losing focused in school and I'm starting not to care anymore about anything. The only thing that's keeping me going is the fact that I want to be successful in the future. If it wasn't for that I think that I would've committed suicide already I've been in a couple of bad relationship where the guy was trying to take advantage of me sexully but thankfully I never let it get to that level. To be honest I don't know how I've kept my sanity for as long as I have. I"m starting to get fed up with everything. I am currently a junior. I really want to graduate and hopefully get my MBA in graduate schools.... I"m stressing and I don't know what to do

Forget about everything and move on, when depression gets to the point where you have thoughts of committing suicide it's very serious, consider telling your doctor about it. Life is not a destiny but a journey so have fun with it, think of all the struggles that you are going through are just life challenges. You can make it through when you think you can. Reach out there for help, it doesn't matter how lonely you feel there's always someone that cares about you.

School and life can be really stressful. See a therapist or psychiatrist. They can help you to find ways to cope and will help you to see the good things too. Also, exercise is a great stress & depression buster and it releases feel good hormones in the brain. Talk to you parents for guidance, they may be able to help find the right person to talk to. Remember that there are many other people out there suffereing from depression. It will pass especially as you get older and are more in control of where you live and what you do. Can you plan a trip for the hollidays to try and go somewhere else to visit family or firends? Maybe a change in scenery will help you to shed this depression and give you a better perspective on everything. Have faith... this too will pass and you will find the happiness you desire. Good Luck.

Concerning your education, contact your school counsellor for advice on this. They are usually very helpful. The best way to beat this thing is to keep your mind very active all the time so that you don't have the time to think about being depressed. Get yourself involved in everything that you can to keep yourself busy. Things like if you can sing, join a choir, become a volunteer at something. I'm sure the school counsellor could help you with who to contact for these things. There are all sorts of self teaching books in the library. Learn how to dance if you don't already know. Ballroom as well as the tap/ballet. You will start to enjoy things so much you will start wondering why you were so depressed in the first place.
Good Luck.

Have you talked with your parents? I suggest you do and there are medications to help you. No one has to stay depressed. Good luck and God Bless YOU.
