There was a stray cat under my house who had kittens, they've all moved out, I've blocked all access holes and I have fleas in my house now. I am going to get a bomb. Should I do it in my house, or under my house!? Will it have the same effect if I do it under the house!? If I do it in the house do I need to cover furniture and everything!?

The only time we ever had a really bad flea problem was when we took in a pregnant stray dog. We found her a home before she had her pups, but she left us eaten UP with fleas. Bombs didn't do a thing. We set off bombs about 3 times, the last time using twice as many as it said to use, getting every single nook and cranny, including the basement. We tried different brands, too. Each time after a few days the fleas were back bad as ever.

We finally took a bag of Sevin Dust (sp?) and used a strainer to sprinkle it over every inch of carpet, furniture, everything, then we used a broom to work it down into the fibers. We also lightly dusted all the hard surfaces with it. This took a couple hours for a 1000+ sq ft home. Then we left home for the weekend. When we came home it took another couple hours to vacuum everything.

I know this was kind of drastic, but we were desperate. None of us had any skin left! BUT, we didn't have a single bug for about two years after that.

Hopefully someone else will have a simpler solution, but you might keep this in mind just in case. Remember to use masks if you try this.

Also remember that this (and any other poison) is deadly to fish and birds.

If you DO use bombs, I think you have to cover any wooden surfaces, but you need the mist to get into curtains, cloth furniture, etc, because that's where the little boogers live. I would do the house and the crawlspace at the same time.

Good luck to ya!......you're gonna need it. :)

Since you've already gotten the bomb, I would suggest using it under the house to kill the fleas that would otherwise move in. For killing the fleas in the house, sprinkle borax on your carpet and furniture, then vacuum after 20 minutes. And keep vacuuming every day for about 2 week to make sure you get any flea eggs and newly hatched fleas. You may even want to wash your bedding and curtains.

Good luck!

Most Veterinary offices sale a product called Syphatrol or Cyphatrol. It comes in a can like hair spray. I have used it a couple of times and it works awesome! I think it was $25 a can but one can did my house and I had half a can left over. It only took a couple of day's and fleas all gone! Worth every penny and I wouldn't waste my money on anything else.

Do both under and inside, wait the time the brand recommends. The Vacuum the whole house and throw out/empty the vaccuum bag immediately. DO NOT cover furniture, but wipe down any food surfaces after'
