To make my groom and I kiss, we are going to show off some couples at the wedding reception and then make them kiss and then we will have to immitate their kiss.

For example: I'm going to have the wedding guests that are all married stand up, and narrow the group down so we can figure out who has been married that longests. When the oldest married couple is identified. They willl have to kiss and then we will copy their kiss.

I will also have out DJ identify the couple that came from the furthest away and then copy their kiss.

Figure out who has known the bride and the groom the longest... the parents of course and copy them.

But those are the only three questions I could come up with.

Any other good ideas to pick out couples in the crowd and narrow it down to copy their kiss?

Cute idea!

The couple who have the most children.
The youngest married couple.
The couple who's anniversary is closest to your wedding day.

Hmm... that's all I've got.

I agree this seems like an awful lot of questions and narrowing people down. I think 2 or 3 questions are good if you really want to do this. I don't see where you'd have time to do more.

Are you trying to keep people from tapping their glasses?

At a friend of mine's wedding they made a rule at the beginning of the reception that if you want the bride and groom to kiss, then a whole table has to sing a song with the word love in it and it couldn't be the Love Boat theme or the Barney song.

Good luck!

Are you going to be doing this all at once? That's alot of lip locking and honestly some people aren't comfortable in the limelight like that or have issues with PDA. I think it's a cute idea but I worry about the logistics of it you know?

At ours we are having a "kissing hat". It's just a tophat I got at a costume shop that I put a ribbon on in our wedding colors. Anyway the way it works is guests have one of two choices:

1. Put on the hat and do something silly, tell a good joke, story about us and we'll kiss

2. Kiss someone else at the reception and we kiss

I didn't want to do the bells/whistles. It's pretty overdone and I've seen it get really obnoxious when drunk people or kiddies get ahold of it.

I think all this staging will come off as awkward and contrived. It may well be both boring for those who cannot participate and embarrassing for those who are put on the spot to participate. Making the bride and groom kiss is supposed to be fairly spontaneous and at the command of the guests (therefore the guests clink glasses or the guests ring bells, or whatever). You've taken the spontaneity and the guests' choice completely out of it.

That is a crap idea. You shouldn't try to force people to kiss in front of others, they may be uncomfortable with it. If you want to kiss in front of everyone then do it but don't make others, that is rude. Why do you need to 'showcase' your wedding guests? That is stupid, just let them be guests only and relax and have a good time, not be made to do stupid private things. If I was a guest there and you tried to make me do that, I would say hell no in front of everyone which is what many people would say.

I would think about doing this for a while more....I think you're going to make a lot of the people very uncomfortable--most people don't enjoy engaging in public displays of affection....and even more would probably feel very uncomfortable with you and your new husband then immitating them. Just a thought.
