I want to share picture & document files with friends. Some are too large to break down into emails.I can't figure out how to convert it to or even use the Adobe Reader. How do you even activate to AR blackboard? I can't get anything to happen. I receive things from others that open in AR - it's got to be something simple but I can't find out how?

Adobe reader is just that: a reader. It reads .pdf files only. You can not edit or make files with it. There are free programs available that convert documents to .pdf. Do a search for "pdf converter" at download.com and you will find some. These will let you change anything you can print into a .pdf.

For sharing pictures, there are better ways to make file sizes smaller. If you have a document file in MS Word or Notepad, you can make it into a .pdf but it will not be a lot smaller. Most text documents are not very big compared to pictures.

Adobe Reader is a "reader" -- not a file type.
I think what you want is to convert a document to PDF (printer definition file) which can be read by Adobe Reader.

I have PDF Converter 3 and 4 - but there is a free, online converter at
www.media-convert.com
which will convert a Word document to a PDF file which can be read by Adobe Reader. Your friends can download Adobe Reader, free, at:

PDFCreator: It acts as a printer, but prints to a PDF file.

(Free bye the way)

Also, OpenOffice.org has built-in PDF export capabilities.
