The human experience is the same as it was 2000 and 3000+ years ago. The language, culture, and technology make surprisingly little difference. We all go thru the same trials and struggles as people in ancient times. It is all part of being human.
In addition to all this, the Bible is inspired of GOD. One way that we can see this to be true is that the Bible is ALWAYS the #1 best seller EVERY year. Self-help books and other books go out of style in a few years. But the Bible has always out-sold ever other book. This has been true since the invention of the printing press. If the "best sellers" list were accurate, the Bible would be #1. If you don't believe me, then please do the research and see how many Bibles are sold world-wide (in all of the many translations) vs the next best seller.
What you will find is that the Bible is always #1.
That would not be so if it were obsolete.

The Bible is Gods Wisdom about how all should behave in life. It's instruction against Sin, It's consequences. It tells us about Gods Chosen and How they lived and how they didn't live. And it is somewhere between Eight to Six thousand years old. The New Testament is just over 2000 years old. And is the most sought after book in the World. Selling more copies Then Little Tommie's Reader. God Bless Ya, Chicago Bob imasinner There is more joy in Jesus in one day. Than there is in the World 365/24/7 I know, I tried them both. I agree that the Bible is the # 1 bestseller and it will always be because God Himself will protect and preserve it. No one can ever get rid of this book. It is as accurate today as the day it was finished. It is relevant for today because it tells the daily news and it describes the people of this world this day. Human nature today is the same as human nature was 2000 years ago and even before then. Remember the flood and what the Lord said about the people before the flood.
Genesis 6:5; The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Well guess what nothing has changed because 2 Timothy 3:1-5; But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days, people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God; having a form of godliness but denying its
power. Now do you think any of these things apply to our world today. There are some cultural things such as dietary laws that only applied to the nation of Israel or things they wore that don't apply to us today but the bible principles about us and our relationship to the Lord remains the same. God loves us enough to teach us, guide us, instruct us, warn us and lead us so that we can experience Him and His divine protection because the last days started when Christ was on earth. It is not going to get better because man will not get better, and it is very evident today. Satan knows his destiny and he is turning up the heat so he can take every soul he can with him to spend eternity with him. The more people fight against the Bible and the God of the Bible the happier he gets because he knows that the Bible is true and what it is capable of.

The Bible is a practical guide to morality. Morality hasn't changed. Sure society has changed, and now accepts sin as "normal" behavior. That does not make it any less wrong. If you follow Jesus you should follow his word, weather or not it is accepted today as being relevant. To adjust the standards expected in the Bible would be to dilute the Word of God. Why? So you can fit in? So you can have more fun?

Not a Christian.
The bible is a wonderful spiritual truth for the people that believe it. Any good mythology like the bible is a life-affirming read.
The epic of Gilgamesh was written over 4000 years ago in clay tablets and it deals with issues of love, roles of men and women, what being a good leader is, facing mortality, etc. Just like we still deal with today.
It is relevant because people have NOT changed. We may have cars and different haircuts and such ... but we all still love, bleed, fight, laugh, and cry the same.
Same now as ever - and same all over the world.

If you just look at the Bible as a piece of literature, it's fascinating! It has lots of stories that teach you about human nature, the nature of political power, how people relate to one another.
As a religious work, well I think it's a great mistake to take it word for word. I think a lot of it wasn't meant to be taken that way. To me, though I do believe in God, the Bible is more interesting and more useful as a secular work.
As for core moral values, we filter these through our own consciences. The Bible is almost completely useless as a source of moral values, as can be seen by how people for 2000 years have used it to justify all the rotten things they did that they wanted to do anyway.

The major things in existence dont change; the universe and how it works, hasnt changed in the past 2000 years. The scientific laws, havent changed. Morals and what is wrong and what is right havent changed, just because one single planet of people live differently than they did 2000 years ago, doesnt mean the rest of the billions of planets and God have changed.

The Bible contains God's instructions for how his people are to live, as well as truth. It also conatins prophesy for today, so that we will recognize the day we live in. Christians have fallen into the traps of "me, myself, and I," when Jesus said that the greatest among us will be the servant of all (ie Mother Teresa). Look at the USA, filled to the brim with sin! Our modern day society and lifestyle (of the American people others) is based on rebellion and sin, like satan who has come to control our nation. Stick to Jesus and the Gospel, and the Apostles who received the Word of God. Be warry of all who teach something else, there are false teachers everywhere and they can be hard to spot, because they tell us what we want to hear, not the Word of God.

oooook. now to answer the question.... the Bible was written BY man, so since man is FLAWED, tht means that they can MAKE MISTAKES, and therefore, the Bible may be flawed as well. Since I was not there to hear God dictate the big 10, nor was I there when jesus was born, how do I know they happened? And why should i pay for the sins of my ancesters? I believe we are accountable for our own sins, and as a born-again pagan, and born-again Wiccan, I have found fault with the Bible for years, and have not have had the courage to say so.

The bible is every bit as relevant today as another book written at almost the same point in the past, Aesop's Fables. Both books sought to give people guidance through parables, but you can only get tax advantages by "teaching" one of them today.
This proves the church has better lawyers & accountants than honest storytellers, I guess!
