I am very sorry that this happened to you.
Unfortunately when we send items to the state crime lab for analysis we lose all control over how long it takes for the results. It usually takes several months if not longer for results (if any are found) to come back.
If you in any way feel that the suspect is receiving "special" treatment for whatever reason then first talk to the detective handling your case, then the head of his team, then the chief etc. You can also speak with Victim Advocates or Rape Counsellors to gain an independent perspective of how a sex assault investigation proceeds.
It is a common misconception that cops cover for other cops. We hate the dirty cops more than we hate regular criminals. They make our jobs to be much harder and tarnish all cops reputations. No cop I know would risk his career and reputation to wreck a sex assault case on the behalf of anybody.

Getting DNA results in real life is not like CSI or tv. I know a rape survivor. It took over 1 year for the DNA match to be made in her case and she was attacked by a serial rapist.
The cop has no control over the DNA process. In my state - all DNA tests go to a state lab in the capital. It all depends on how busy they are and how backed up they are. Just stay in contact with the detective that is investigating your case. More likely, the detective is more apt to be pissed off that a former cop attacked you than likely to protect an ex-cop.
The local rape crisis center should be able to get you in touch with a victims advocate who can help you through the process. They may also offer counseling.
Good luck.

You need to contact your Rape crisis center and set up an appointment with them. Get them involved in this and they can also keep an eye on the situation for you.
There is protocol when handeling evidence so it may take longer especially if you are from a large city and the DNA has to go to a larger crime lab. It will have to go into a computer main frame to see if there are any other matches to this DNA also.
He may be an EX-COP, if this is bothering you, you can go to the department heads to talk to them about your case. There may be certain reasons as to "Why" this man isn't working as a policeman anymore too and he may not have the respect of his fellow officers due to this.
Find out in order to ease your mind.
Start going to the groups for Rape victims. It helps. Please. I pray they catch him and keep an eye on him until they do put him behind bars.
Ladies, when you are assalted, NEVER be ashamed of what has happened! IT ISN'T YOUR FAULT! REPORT THE ASSAULT ASAP!
It is vital to your Law Enforcement Officers the sooner you report the situation, the more evidence they can collect!
Don't be ashamed. Hold your heads up. Take a deep breath. They are the sick animals. It's our bodies. We control our bodies.
I pray you are doing good!

Oh god! I'm sorry that happened to you.
I've had incidences involving the police before, and it should not take a lot of time if there is a suspected rapist working in a hospital!
They should not take into account the fact he is an ex-policemen, that does not make his crime any less important/cruel/serious.
I'm not sure how long it would take though, sorry.

If you are not afraid of the publicity, contact your local media to get the word out that he is still working in the hospital. Contact the owners of the hospital with your story. Don't be silent.

DNA does take a while to analyze, not like on TV.
If you haven't already, bring a wrongful employment suit against the hospital. They should not be harboring such an individual. Please remember that if you think cops stick together, wait until you se what hospital people do.

It takes as long as it takes for the lab to get to it. I say this because if there are 50 cases ahead of yours then they do those 50 cases first.

\.
a big Hugggg to you.
For me asking for help from above was a key to me to make me better in tough situations like this. I prayed, "Jesus help me, and thanks for dying for my sins, I am sorry for my sins-(even one lie-or one bad word said), come into my heart and be my savior and freind to comfort and help me, amen." He said he would in Revelation 3:19&20 and that he loves each of us and knocks on your heart to come in forgive sins and be our friend when we ask Him in.
Best wishes and prayers to you need to come to Jesus. "Vengence is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord." Pray .
David a true friend, in Jesus amazing grace and thanks.
Do what you can do and relax your heart and mind, let the lord, have his vengence, not let your heart get bitter, let Him get you better than ever. "Vengence is mine saith the Lord."
