I know there's more examples of why it is brainwashing, can anyone help me out? Here's my list so far:

1. The Bible has good and evil all over the place. So you can you pretty much justify can kind of crime be it slavery or stoning homosexuals if you put it in the right context. Who wouldn't want to follow the Bible where you can do terrible things and still be in God's favour?

2. There's a vague prophesy on the return of Jesus, so people will be like "I should be Christian just in case Jesus comes back in my lifetime."

3. It says that Jesus died for everyone and that we have to repay him by worshipping him.

4. It says Jesus loves you unconditionally. I mean, who doesn't want to be loved? tear*

5. It says you will be go up to heaven and live in eternal bliss when you die if you repent and you go to hell if you don't.

6. "God" says that the Bible is His inspired words so you better follow it because the Bible says it's God's inspired words! Circular logic..

The Bible is disgusting fiction, but harmless. The church and its members are the ones who use it to hurt and brainwash people.

Academia states that in the absence of proof of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable proof is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence. There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!! There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!! He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record? Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!! Pilot is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!! At best he was an amalgam of those others!! The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!! He also organized Christianity into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely ITALIAN!! Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead? What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Christian enemies - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!!! The first person to provide a shred of verifiable evidence for God will become world famous and mega rich!! Ain't happened yet and it never will!! So how does this primitive belief survive? The answer is simple and very down to Earth!! Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking. They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!! Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!! Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely. Sadly Christians are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!!

Only people who don't beleieve in the bible would say that the bible is a brain washing tool. The bible is true, how to explain the bible prophacies that have come true, and if you look into just history there is record of the people in the bible, you may believe what you want, that is ok but to call the brain washing not at all, mabey by some religous oraganazations they use the brain washing but the bible istself is not.

You cannot do evil in the name of the Bible because the Bible says do not do bad things. In fact its says this:

2Cor:10:4: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

The weapons of christianity are not physical but spiritual, see above.

Eph:6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

That tells us we fight demons not people.

But yes the Bible does brain wash us, because our brains are dirty see here:

James 1:21 MKJV
Therefore putting aside all filthiness and overflowing of evil, receive in meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls.

James tells the saved christians that altho their spirits are saved they need to save their souls with the word of God.

The soul is our mind, will and emotions. Here is an example:

Rom 12: NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

And here is the brain washing:

Eph 5: MKJV
25 ... as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,

Okay, I really take offense at this question. My daughter was kidnapped by my ex-husband and kept away from me for a year when she was 6 years old. During that year, he brainwashed her severely. In fact, during our custody trial, the judge said it was the worst case of parental alienation and brainwashing he had ever seen. Before you state that the Bible is the best example of brainwashing literature, you need to fully understand what the term "brainwashing" means. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of the word "brainwashing" is :
a forcible indoctrination to induce someone to give up basic political, social, or religious beliefs and attitudes and to accept contrasting regimented ideas
2 : persuasion by propaganda or salesmanship

The Bible does not forcefully indoctrinate or induce anyone to give up their basic political, social or religious beliefs and attitudes and to accept contrasting regimented ideas, nor does it persuade by propaganda or salesmanship. The Bible is a historical accounting of the early years on earth and mankind's relationship with God. It does not seek to force anyone to do anything. In fact, the Bible makes it very clear that God does not force Himself upon anyone. While it gives us guidelines for living a life not only pleasing to God, but a life which is for our own good, it also tells us that we are free to live our own lives, as we please and God will allow us to do so and face the consequences of our choices, good or bad. There is no forcing going on. People are not forced to change their basic life beliefs or to leave loved ones. They are not forced or persuaded by slick techniques to believe what the Bible says. In fact, the Bible says many won't believe. Furthermore, you are incorrect in your point # 3 where it says that Jesus died for everyone and we have to repay Him by worshipping Him. Not so. We don't HAVE to do any such thing. His death was voluntary - so is our acceptance of Him and worship of Him. We are free to reject Him if we so please. Just as you are free to stick your hand in a fire, you are also free to be burned as a consequence. Nobody forces you NOT to put your hand in the fire, nor are you forced TO put your hand in the fire. The choice is entirely up to you. Same with God and the Bible. Just because there are basic cause and effect consequences when we choose not to obey God, does not mean that the Bible, which is His guidebook for our lives, if you will, is a brainwashing tool. What irks me most are the people who feel so threatened by the Bible because it puts the responsibility for one's own soul strictly on the individual, that they have to try to "brainwash" others into believing the Bible is a book of fiction and persuasion, just so they won't feel alone in their choice to reject God and everything He says in the Bible.
