The writings are asauthentic as any other writings or stories from 2000 years ago.... unfortunately it's not a collection of all writings from then, only the ones the church "chose" to put in it. So, in that sense, the Bible is NOT authentic! You can't claim something is authentic when so much information is left out, changed, translated from an archaic language we barely understand, then changed again and added to years later - while calling it the word of God! Clearly, any good amount of unbiased research will prove that this God did not set a book into someone hands and say "These are my words".
If one chooses to believe the words of men they never met ~ simply because someone else tells them to believe it ~ then they will say it is "Authentic". However, they also haven't cracked a dictionary in a while so I wouldn't seriously consider their opinion if I were you.

The Bible is a book written around 2000 years ago, and the one we read today is the King James Bible. Obviously it has been modified several times.
There is enough evidence to support it. the Russians celebrate Christmas in January, the Catholics in December. This is because Christmas was made to coincide with the Winter Solstice as it was worshiped as the day of the Sun by the Romans since days start getting longer from 24th Dec. Moreover, Romans were idol worshipers and had many customs similar to Hinduism. A lot of their influence came into Catholicism.
Forget about all this, even Prophet Muhammad said that he respected Jesus but not the current (contemporary to him) Bible because the original has been modified by lots of people to suit their needs.
Therefore, it is safe and logical to say that whatever version of the Bible we read today, we can never be sure of it's authenticity.

Which bible? The bible is a concept, not a reality.
We have no originals of the books included in what people call the bible, and we don't even have the copies of the originals. Various bible translations use differing manuscripts, which future complicates the idea.
Nevertheless, what is clear is that there is essentially no proof than any author ever met Jesus, and most of the names of the authors are probably wrong.
Paul: Never met Jesus, probably only wrote half of the books people think he did.
Mark: Probably never met Jesus. Called "Mark" in 180 AD based on a three-party hearsay story that sounds nothing like the gospel in question.
Matthew: Never met Jesus since he copied almost wholesale from Mark and Q. Name also added in 180 AD and story also sounds like a different gospel.
Luke: Never met Jesus since he copied from Mark and Q.
John: Likely never met Jesus.
The rest all follow the same pattern, and all were written at between 25-80 years after Jesus supposedly died.
In short, I think the historical authenticity of the bible is severely lacking, but it does accurately reflect the status of Christianity at various early stages in its development.

Authenticity in what way?
That is the word of some god? No way, it's too petty - too human.
That it is the same as it was when it was first written? I doubt it's even close.
That it is a very old book? Maybe, but given all the translations and passage of time, I don't think it resembles the potential original much.
That it was written by men? That's pretty obvious, given the content

I don't bother with the new testament, for one. And the old, or torah, I respect as having been written in a language that is not meant to be translated into English, or read by gentiles who do not possess the understanding of the endless living layers enbodyied in Torah. When I have a question about the bible I find a rabbi and ask what kaballah has to say on such and such.
