If she's a cat person, forget it. Don't even try, it'll just cause problems. You might be able to convince her to not get a cat, but don't go too far and make it about how bad cats are as pets.

But I'm wondering why you're asking both sides of this question.

That's not true for one and for another if you really dont want a cat, depending on how long you've been in the relationship, just tell her and she should listen.
But really cat's are great animals, much more carefree than dogs, and don't need a lot of maintenance, just some attention and food and a warm place to sleep.

Well I personally love cats but some downsides are:
-cleaning the litterbox
-"accidents"
-fur everywhere
-developing allergies
-vet and medical bills
-food/toy bills
-enough time and attention
-midnight wakeup calls
-waking up at 4:00 am because the cat wants breakfast

I think you should consider it though, they don't require that much work and can be good companions.

cats don't stink. if you don't clean the litter box, it stinks but that would be your fault, not the cats'!

Cats are clean and smell good. They are great companions.

Don't get cats if you don't like them, but if your girlfriend loves cats as much as I do, good luck with that, because I know what I would choose.

Go to a friend who has cats, maybe once you learn more about cats, you may warm up to them.

well now that's just rude, I'm sure your girlfriend will find it much better to have a clean cat around who will probably outlast then a rude boyfriend. You had to expect responses like this in the cat section.

Thats not true so you can't. I have had cats all my life and they are clean and well kept. Depends on how well you take care of them. I can understand if you don't like them your allowed your opinion but that statement isn't true. Whoever u knew that had them obviously didn't take care of them. My cat gets baths and I clean her litter box twice a day and she gets her frontline flee and tic med. She is very well taken care of. Trust me my husband hates cats but he lets me have one. It would depend on how well your girlfriend takes care of herself and her pets.

o yeah and by the way my husband loves our cat now to. Like she was his daughter. U can change.

So, your girlfriend posted this question in an opposite form, one minute before you posted this question? Weird. Although, I'm sure she's laughing it up by the fact that most people that answered this question are saying that you're wrong.

thats not true. you are just trying to make it true. maybe if you looked at the good things about cats then you would be much happier. cats are very clean and they can be good for you. they catch mice and other rodents.

She should choose you over the cat. Those relationships never work.
