The point of bread pudding was to use up older stale bread, and that meant anything you had left over. Now that said, I wouldn't throw in that nasty Wonder bread stuff or anything, but if you have a decent sliced sandwich bread that is too stale definitely throw it in! It will be great!

i love bread pudding my grandmother makes it all the time for thanksgiving, and christmas. and i can say the if you use the loaf its much better.i mean i never heard of anyone that would use the sliced bread. that dont sound to good, but my mom said you need to use the loaf cause it has more crust and thats what gives the pudding its texture.

You know what's a good thing for bread pudding? Stale muffins. Get whatever kind you like at the day old place and use them just like bread. Less expensive and more flavor.

I wouldn't recommend sandwich bread. It will make it too gummy. I've tried it myself and was terribly disappointed. Urge you to find challah bread, french, or some other firm loaf bread. Sounds so yummy.....

if you use sandwich bread just toast it first or leave it out on the counter open to dry overnight
