The carrot should become firm again because more water will go into the carrot's cells than the amount of water that comes out of the cells. (The water is hypotonic for the carrot's cells.)

You can get the carrot to wilt faster if you peel it or if you cut it into thin sticks. The carrot's outer covering helps prevent water loss.
