Hello, Please give a a warm bath with an oatmeal soap or make a baking soda paste with water and rub it on her belly and anywhere else that is affected. If you can, get some benadryl cream and rub it on the affected area. Generic is fine, brand names are costly. It sound like you have a lot of good answers already. See if the vet will take small payments for the visit if you end up needing to take her. Good luck to your poochie. Liz

You might not be able to go to a vet - but you've just wasted a bunch of money on treatments that aren't going to work!
NO flea collars work. Or shampoos, or anything from a pet shop - they just aren't allowed to sell the proper drugs. The 'hot stop treatment' is also not going to work because hot spot treatment is antibiotics, and these are prescription only, not available in pet stores.
You're wasting time and money and all the time your dog is getting more uncomfortable. You don't even know this is hot spots - it doesn't really sound like it. It could be a flea allergy - the least you can do is pick up some proper treatment from a vet.
So, you could either continue wasting money on random treatments, or you could pay a consult fee to find out what the problem actually is, and then pay for meds that are actually appropriate and actually going to work.

What flea and tick treatment did you use? If you got one from the brand Hartz/Zodiac then that may be causing the problem to worsen- their flea/tick treatment has been linked to hundreds of animals deaths because of the harsh chemicals they use. So don't use anything from the grocery store (only use Frontline, Revolution, or Advantage).
Give her Benadryl- the dosage for dogs is 2mg per pound (example: 25 pounds dog gets 50mg) but she really needs to see a vet. Borrow the money from a friend or family member because she could have gotten into something very serious. Also, just take her to the vet because they will not refuse to treat your dog and then set up a payment plan. The Benadryl will help with the itching in the mean time.

Bella...where are you?? If you are in the UK go to the Blue Cross...you can just make a small donation if you haven't money. I am sure there must be places like this in the USA too. The person who said "if you can't afford a vet, you shouldn't have a dog isn't really being very helpful and is about as sensitive as a brick!!!!!!!! Maybe this is a food allergy, German shepherds can be prone to this. Try to get some professional help anyway you can, and good luck!!!!

It sounds like it might be an allergic reaction to the cheap flea medicine you put on her. You really don't have a choice but to get her to a vet. OTC flea treatments can KILL a dog.

My dog has that same problem, she's been itching for about a week now so we took her to the vet atfer we gave her a bath, flea and tick medicine and they said that she might of gotten an elergic reaction. That might be what is happening to your dog so you could try stop using your medicine.

My dog was having the same problem untill we put him on a meadication fromt he vet.
I would atlest call the vet and see if there is an over the counter medicine for that kind off stuff.
I know you could give dogs benedryl, but I don't know if that would help......
Hope your "puppy" gets better <3

No one on a group site can diagnose your dog for you. Take you dog to a vet and see if they'll do a payment plan for you. Or else call your local humane society, some will treat for little to nothing. By delaying treatment, all you will do is make the situation worse.
If you can't afford to take care of a dog, you shouldn't have one.

You need to take that dog to a vet. Ask one of ur friends if u can borrow some money. That could be very serious. I am sure ur friends will be happy to help. Try calling a local vet just to ask them about it before u ask ur friends/parents for money,

it sounds like an allergy or skin infection, she needs to see a vet! Borrow the money from a friend or family member if you need to.
