I'm interested in getting a small tattoo on the very back of my foot, right above the heel.

Since the skin is rather rough in that area, would ink not hold in too well? Would it fade faster?

I appriciate any other information/advice about tattoos that I might need to know. Thanks!

If your tattoo is done professionally the ink should hold just fine. having a tattoo done there is VERY painful.
you also should not ware shoes that will rub against that area while your tattoo is healing.I might fade a little faster because of all the rubbing From your shoes but not too much faster. When you have your tattoo done make sure to keep it moist with what ever you tattooist recommends for at least a week. After that using lotion on it daily will help with the fading. Also put sunscreen on it when it is exposed to sun light. sun exposure and dryness will cause your tattoo to fade faster.

Number 1, since that placement is close to where a major tendon is located, it will hurt like you wouldn't believe.

Number 2, because of the constant rubbing this area endures on a daily basis, you shed more skin cells more quickly, and so your tattoo will fade quickly, and will be difficult to heal, unless you wear flip-flops for the weeks following.

If you have any other specific questions about tattoos (aftercare, pain levels of certain areas, what to expect/look for at a tattoo shop) feel free to e-mail me.

the rougher skin may need to be touched up more often and some artists probably wouldn't want to do it but i'm sure you can find someone to do it.
