1. Islaamic method of slaughtering animal
Zakkaytum is a verb derived from the root word Zakaah (to purify). Its infinitive is Tazkiyah which means purification. The Islamic mode of slaughtering an animal requires the following conditions to be met:

a. Animal should be slaughtered with sharp object (knife)
The animal has to be slaughtered with a sharp object (knife) and in a fast way so that the pain of slaughter is minimised.

b. Cut wind pipe, throat and vessels of neck
Zabiha is an Arabic word which means ‘slaughtered’. The ‘slaughtering’ is to be done by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck causing the animal’s death without cutting the spinal cord.

c. Blood should be drained
The blood has to be drained completely before the head is removed. The purpose is to drain out most of the blood which would serve as a good culture medium for micro organisms. The spinal cord must not be cut because the nerve fibres to the heart could be damaged during the process causing cardiac arrest, stagnating the blood in the blood vessels.

2. Blood is a good medium for germs and bacteria
Blood is a good media of germs, bacteria, toxins, etc. Therefore the Muslim way of slaughtering is more hygienic as most of the blood containing germs, bacteria, toxins, etc. that are the cause of several diseases are eliminated.

3. Meat remains fresh for a longer time
Meat slaughtered by Islamic way remains fresh for a longer time due to deficiency of blood in the meat as compared to other methods of slaughtering.

4. Animal does not feel pain
The swift cutting of vessels of the neck disconnects the flow of blood to the nerve of the brain responsible for pain. Thus the animal does not feel pain. While dying, the animal struggles, writhers, shakes and kicks, not due to pain, but due to the contraction and relaxation of the muscles deficient in blood and due to the flow of blood out of the body.

Dear All

I admit what Muslims are following is not new and it was practiced not only by the followers of Judaism but every Prophet of God including Abraham, David, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad peace be on all of them.

As Muslims we are bound to follow all the Holy Prophets of God Almighty Allah peace be on all of them. The reason why Allah has sent Prophet after Prophet was to guide the people who went astray and left the path of their prophets and tampered their holy books.

It is a logic, if not why people have to accept David after Abraham and Moses after David and Jesus after Moses, while every one of them was a prophet of the same God Almighty?

Again How can be different Religions of those prophets while they are all from the same God Almighty. Hence if it is one Religion One God then that Religion is Islam.

Islam submission and peace was the Religion of every Prophet right from Adam untill Muhammad peace be on all of them.

When we Muslims Follow Prophet Muhammad peace be on him, we are following all the Prophets Adam, Noah, Abraham, David, Moses, Jesus and all of their original Holy Scriptures but not the tampered ones. To remain Muslims we need to respect them and believe in their holy scriptures, without which we shall go out of Islam.

May God guide All of Us towards the path of those whom He Blessed and Keep Us Away from the Path of those on whom He angered Aameen.

i am a revert living in the uk and i find this really difficult as i no that many many things have gellitine in it which is mostly made of pig fat and if it is another animal it, like u said is not halal anyway. i dont really no how to get past this as i try my hardest under all ways to buy vegetarian products but even then like u say some still have these Enumbers. how can we avoid these living in a country where it is in almost everything? this is serious if u can reply as i desperatly want to do right by islam but at the same time i no that this would be extremly difficult and costly to remove all these things.

Because by draining the blood you are making the meat cleaner, ending the animal's life without very little suffering, and also gets rid of the parasites and bacteria in the blood that could potenitally harm humans or kill them.

I appreciate your explanation of halal meat, and i think here in Greece, a good butcher does it in the same way because the blood makes the meat go bad in less time. Also we don't use blood in any sort of food or sausage.

well i have seen animlas slaughtered and they do feel pain

not cows they just drive a spike in their heads with a gun they feel nothing

did you know when one pig is taken out of the pen to be slaughtered the others will actually try to hide cause they know whats coming

where i buy my meat they slaughter their own pigs and those pigs fight the entire time being led to slaughter and when the throat is cut it is one of the most chilling screams ive ever heard

and blood is actually very nutritious

it has everything you need to survive ask any doctor

if you drank like 4 pints of blood a day you wouldnt need any other food all your minerals and vitamins are contained in blood

and i have a question for you

you say blood isnt allowed in islam but what about bone marrow? thats where the blood is produced can you eat that or boil bones to make soup or not?

The best is really lethal injection but of course you can't do that because it would get into the cows bloodstream. But I agree with killing it fast so that it would not feel much pain.

thank you v much to help people understand even killing animal have rights under Islamic rules, Would be nice if u mention the story behind the tadhayya also, i will leave to you.
One of things you may forget to mention that slaughter animal not in front of the others animals also best to do, cause this may cause the panic to others. which means you make them suffer.

A tad...
That does not make Muslims better though.
All ways of killing animals cause pain unless we were to use lethal injection(Too much money for the meat plants)...but even that is being challenged. I just don't eat it.

it isn't copying kosher. Jews believe that for something to be kosher a rabbi needs to bless the meat. Nice try, but don't flatter urself we're not copying u.

thank you proud muslima, and to all the fools above me, she asked if you're interested in knowing, so if you're not you could've simply ignored the question.
