in-pipe water flow - domestic - 22mm or 15mm copper is the main target, but if i can measure a 2" white waste pipe as well i will.

Don't like cutting pipe - if i could get a non-invasive clamp-on ultrasonic or hydromagnetic thingy doo dah I would

Accuracy and linearity not important - happy to calibrate with bucket and stopwatch. Best if not temperature sensitive.

Thanks!!

Depends what you mean by cheap. Try typing in clamp on flowmeter in Google

If you want cheap like under $100, you want a rotameter but you're going have to cut the pipe. Anything else will be pricey by comparison. McMaster-Carr is a great source for all types of mechanical parts. Your metric copper tube size may be a problem but you can get a Swagelok fitting to clamp on and then use a nipple to connect the rotameter to the Swagelok.

I hope you realize you can also get the a rough flowrate number with your bucket and stopwatch method but anything you purchase will have a better accuracy then what you can reproduce with that method. You always calibrate with respect to something with greater accuracy not less.
