I can't find a cream by the name of Cavilon, George. Is this a generic name? If you could provide the name of the active ingredient(s) within it, maybe that would help.

What I can tell you from my own personal experience is that if the pressure sore area is open, you mustn't apply any cream to it without a doctor's prescription. If the pressure sore area is still intact you can use many different creams as a barrier.

Is the pressure area in a site that can be packed to prevent it breaking down?

You might like to take a look at the following sites to see if there are any contraindications for the use of Cavilon cream on pressure areas. (You'll need to register if you wish to see details on the BNF (British National Formulary) site.)
