Im 5'9-5'10 and turning 16 in a few days. Im extremely overweight.. Ive been walking alot for about the past 3-4 weeks. I walk in my backyard, which is pretty good sized. I'll do about 15 laps then rest for a hour or 2 then go back out and walk like that. I do this in about 4-5 sessions on the weekends. On the weekdays, I'll do about 40 laps a day.. I used to be 275. Now I look on the scale and it says 269. But in the morning it says, 265. I can notice that my chest and stomach have shrunk quite a bit. But the scale hasnt changed that much... Is this normal? Has anyone lost alot of weight but the scale hasnt showed much change in your weight? My whole family has a history of big boned people. Like they weigh alot but look so small.

Is this normal? lol

Well as you lose weight and you are walking you are gaining some muscle. I would say that is normal especially in the morning. your muscles are sore and while you are sleeping they are rebuilding and burning fat. Thus why you look skinny in the morning your stomach is empty. then you eat and look all bloated again. its the same with everyone. i would recommend getting a gym membership or going to a track so that you can actually run or walk faster. walking slow isnt going to do much for anyone. also you can watch the biggest loser and see some of the work outs they do to lose weight and copy that. i would also recommend getting on some kind of weight lifting regiment. The last is the key to any weight loss. Eat what ever you want but eat 6 meals a day and eat alot less in those 6 meals. it keeps your stomach working but getting full 6 times a day would make you huge. eat half of what you normally would eat. Eating less and working out isnt a temporary thing its a life style stick with it and you will see results.

Everyone's weight fluctuates during the day. When you start working out it can be pretty frustrating if you focus on the numbers too much. As the previous poster suggested, you may have gained some muscle which weighs more than fat. Stay focused on the positive results you are seeing. Keep up the good work!

Generally speaking, we weigh less in the morning It hink because of not eating for hours but I could be wrong. We're also taller in the morning because lying down for that long allows our spine to stretch out. Weird huh?

Anyway, all this exercise is not only going to burn off the fat it will also build muslce which weighs more than fat does. This could well be why you are seeing more of a difference than shows on the scales.

There are a few reasons for that. Muscle weighs more than fat. So as you build muscle and lose fat you may not lose that much weight but you will be in better shape. The other reason is that due to water weight your weight can fluxuate upto 10 pounds a day.

Yup, it is. I lost 15 pounds walking in the first month, then went to 1 to 2 pounds a weeks. Any more than that might not be healthy.

yes it is. because remember, you could see the skinniest person ever, and they could weight 150.
because of muscle.
muscle mass can add weight to a person without being fat.
and when you wake up in the moring, keep in mind that you havent eaten in the last 12 hours or so.
