Most likely he's cold. They are a lot smaller than us, so what might be a perfect temperature for you could be cold for him. Some chihuahuas use so much of their energy trying to keep warm that they might look a little under wight.
Check out the sight below and look under bed & beeding they have a Snuggle Safe Microdisc you can put it in the microwave, place it in the bed and it wiil stay warm for up to 12 hours. You can also try a bottle of warm water.
I use to have one, she always shaked, I got her use to laying in her bed with a blanket covering her when I would leave for work. She was also house trained, in case it was too cold or rainy to take her outside.
Good look with your pup

Chihuahuas shake and shiver from either being cold, or
nervous. They startle easy and are very alert little dogs. They
usually require body heat from you to stay warm enough. So
often they want to cuddle up where you sit or lay.We have
baby blankets on our couch for our dogs and they make
nests and sleep under another blanket when there isn't a
human body to snuggle next to. And often under the covers in a little tunnel they can make for air. I have two Chis' and our little toy sized, has been shivering since our weather changed and is damp and colder. She will also try to keep from going outside because of the cold. You should
buy it a little sweater to keep it warmer during the cold
weather when it wants to go out, or even keep it on inside if
you think it's comfortable. They seem to really like the warm
temps inside so you have to decide if keeping a sweater on
would be too warm for him. You have to be careful not to let
them catch cold, as they can get sick if they are the really
small Chi's. So cover them up when the go out for a walk or
run, getting him used to wearing a covering. He should adapt
quickly. And will associate wearing the sweater or whatever
when you pick it up, for his going out for a walk, or going in
the car. They love to be your co pilot LOL.

I'm a chi owner too. It's normal. Here are a few ways to help... get your chi on vitamin supplements, you can get them from your vet or on line for under 20 dollars. And because Chihuahua's are so small-- the vitamins last longer. Or get some little sweaters. I get mine from EBay, they'll even custom make your order if you provide your chi's measurements. So easy! & Cheap. They're so frail you want to ekeep them as comfortable as possible. Sometimes I'll put a sweater in the dryer then put it on him while it's still warm, he loves it! You sould see him wiggle around! Hope Helps

He could be cold,or he could have low blood sugar.Give him a little corn syrup or pancake syrup and a small meal, and keep him warm.If he doesn't stop shaking,or gets worse, call your vet for advice.Hypoglycemia is very dangerous in small breeds. There is a remote possibility that it could be some type of seizure as well,or he could just be one of those "shaky Chihuahuas," but, better safe than sorry.

When i was looking online about little dogs, it was very common that they shake. It can be a few things. Either they're cold, they are just shaking, they ate too much( keep them on the same amount of food/day) or if you play or excersise them too much. They are little dogs and may not be able to hande this. Hope i could help.

Is he shaking as if he is cold or having a seizure? If it's an uncontrollable shaking and his eyes seem to be rolling back in their sockets, then it's obviously a seizure and he needs to see a vet immediately. If it's a cold shake, try holding him or covering him with a blanket- they are small dogs and get cold easily from their lack of fur.

Put a sweater or vest on him if he is cold. Chis also like to burrow under blankets etc or provide him with an old folded over sleeping bag to burrow into or under. They also like small crates with a pillow in them to seek refuge when they are scared of something or want to chew on bone in private. But I never lock the crate. .

dog so small, maybe nervous, hold puppy in arms, talk nice to dog, soothing voice, no yell, let dog know you love him and dog will stop shaking so much, maybe you yell at girlfriend or wife a lot, dog pick up on this tone, curb your behavior, act gentle and dog will grow up not so nervous.

unless he is haveing a seizure, chihuahuas always tremble, especially when they are nervous.but I would check either with his breeder or vet to be certain.
