I heard that the larger concentration of mass makes them more accurate. Is this true?

Obviously logan_sell's doesn’t know what he is talking about. Mass is not the same thing as weight, it is the amount of matter in an object and BBs and pellets have more mass than a bullet.

absolutely not, the airgun projectiles are not as heavy and have less mass than your powder propelled projectiles. plus, powder charges are able to reach speeds that air is simply incapable of doing.

a 15 grain pellet at 1200 fps can be as accurate as a 40 grain .204 bullet trraveling at 4000fps, maybe for the first 50-75 feet. after that there is no comparison. the .204 ruger in bull barrel can produce groups the size of dimes at 150 yards, which simply cannot be done with an air rifle!

* UPDATE YOYO- its Logan_Sell, and just do the math, bullets designed for powder propellant have more mass, and I guess the six people that gave me thumbs up dont know what i am talking about either. you came here for an answer, dont be smart assed! and thank you DCA

The problem with your question, Yoyo, is that "accuracy" is the ability to hit a defined target within a defined range. You only included half that in your question.

You would need to edit to your question to "is a pellet gun more accurate inside 25 feet than a firearm?" for it to be really answerable.

In that regard, a pelletgun can quite easily be more accurate within its intended range of use than a real firearm.

Accuracy out of a firearm means you need the ability to control all of the variables of all your shots. Among those seemingly insignificant things is bullet weight. We all know that mixing diff bullets on the firing line means your point of aim changes. No arguments there. Another is chamber pressure. More "go power" behind the bullet means it will hit in a diff spot than a less fast load. Again, no argument. The pressure curve of the propellant is another. A fast powder that burns at a perfect rate so the bullet moves smoothly down the barrel is another. That's why a slow moving .38 Special bullet tends to be more accurate than a much faster .357 Magnum. Same goes for the .308 Winchester round....it's more accurate than a faster, more powerful .30-06 because the pressure peaks more smoothly and quicker.

In the case of the air rifle, you don't tend to have many diff weights of pellets. You have an almost perfect chamber pressure and the pressure curve remains identical between shots. Simply put, there are far less variables to contend with with a pelletgun than there are with a firearm....so physically speaking, the pelletgun can easily be more accurate within its intended range than a real firearm.

The design of pellets leaves them with less mass for the same length as a bullet from even a .22 lr. Most really good pellet guns are not any more accurate, and usually less so than a good firearm. The BB is round, doesn't have good ballistics, and can never be more accurate than a good bullet.

They are accurate at closer ranges.** Concentration of mass is meaningless in reference to BB guns & pellet guns.**

Awww....is this your first pellet gun???

You behaving like you did when you got your first bubble gun. In your mind it could take down elephants and there was no other weapon like it.

Believe me, most projectile weapons are far more accurate than your little bb gun.

Whever told you that is a chump and should get a spanking from his mommy cuz daddy would only laugh at that suggestion.
