my dog probably caught some bad allergies and now suffers from a sinus infection. i took him to two different vets. first one prescribed me amoxicillian and benedryl. i gave him both - it increased the amont of mucus and snot and made hi wheeze. the second vet gave me bendryl - a stronger form of antibotics and it dried up a lot but he's still having difficulties smelling things. he will drink water, but he still refuses to eat. its day 4 and i am starting to get worried. doctor told me to wait a few days before bringing him back. i tried feeding him regular dog food, canned food, cooked food - variations of turkey, chicken, ham, beans, and beef - he won't even try them. i have used a suringe to inject a little bit of protein shake into the corner of his mouth but he vomits some of it back hours later. i am running out of ideas. i really want him to get over this and be well and i am running out of ideas.

Is he loosing weight? They can go a while without food. How is the energey - is he acting okay otherwise?

If he is acting fine otherwise, can keep water down, and isn't loosing weight - then you will be okay for a day or two. Then he will need to see the vet again - it could be something different than a sinus infection.

This requires fast attention if your pet hasn't eaten in 4 days.Replace its water with the baby non-flavored pediolyte, this will replace any electrolytes it has lost and keep it from dehydrating. Also give this pet a dab of plain honey or karo syrup on its tongue, this will elevate its sugar level which is probably low from not eating. Then boil some chicken,,cut into smal pieces, put in a blender with small amount of water and puree it,most pets will eat this when nothing else.If they pet still refuses to eat ,you must force feed it after the pediolyte settles its stomach. You can also give your pet about 1/4 teaspoon of the robertussin deconjestion meds.I would also recommend placeing it in a keenel cab in a room with a vapor steamer with some vapor steaming solution overnight for about 3 to 4 days. This will help with its breathing and clear air passages. If all fails see another Vet imediately.

Feed him meat baby food mixed with broth to thin it,and feed it warm so it will help unclog his noseYou also might offer him straight broth to drink ( homemade is best). The protein shake is probably too sweet ,which willl make a dog vomit. You can also use Neosynephrin PEDIATRIC nose drops,1 drop in each nostril every 12 hours.Use ONE drop only, more may cause harmful side effects. You can also use plain saline drops as often as needed. Also, you might ask the vet to put the dog on a course of Prednisone.Good luck. Oh,and I think you mean "Baytril" ( antibiotic)

Edit: Do NOT give the dog oral decongestants;they can kill the dog!!

I would suggest locating vet number three to gain assistance with the food issue after four days of abstaining from food. Your pet may not be drinking enough water either and become dehydrated. He can give your pet an IV to assist with it's nutritional needs. Dogs and cats don't eat what they can't smell (even if they eat it all the time otherwise).

The antibiotics are upsetting his tummy.
You could try oatmeal with some warm water. It's easy on the tummy.
So is plain rice, maybe with a little bit of lean ground beef for flavor.

You will soon have no choice except to hold her until she passes. I think you should get something from the vet to let her pass quietly and calmly at home. She is suffering and that is not a fair way to treat an old and dear friend.
