All religions fill your head with so much ''brainwashing' it is pathetic!
If you stay in a religion, it takes away everything that is sane, and good! You might as well be standing in a box! Like a shower stall with clear glass! You can see all the 'cool things that there are? YOU CAN LOOK, BUT YOU CAN'T TOUCH!
What kind of life is that? and in so many places, and aspect of your life!
Take sex for instance! It is a natural and wonderful thing, between two healthy adults!
And here comes religion! It want to control, EVERY aspect of it! It wants to tell you with whom, when, how to pick your lovers, how often, positions you can use, and can't use! How many times you can even THINK about it! It wants to tell that that being aroused if you are thinking about it is wrong1
Who says it is you god's business how you use your body with , another ADULT! ABOUT VERBAL CONVERSATION, OR PHYSICAL CONVERSATION?
there are so many people with sexual hang ups, in today's society, beacause;;
1their parents brought them up thinking sex was dirty!
2 They were not taught about sex, because their parent had hang ups, and were too embarrassed to talk about it!
3 Because they were 'sexually abused'' by people, suffering from 1&2 !
Poor sex education is why there are RAPISTS, PEDIAPHILES, CHILD MOLESTERS! and a lot of very unhappy people, because they can't have sex, without feeling either, dirty, or guilty because they like it!
any religion is dangerous, especially when it is based on a book written 2000 years ago! Believe in a higher power if you must, but don't buy into one that deprives you of every good thing there is in life!

I was forced to go to Catholic grade school were the nuns were very angry and beat the children.

Also, in High School much of the same thing, punching the kids ect.

I am happy to say that even as a Child I hated going to that church, it was just a bunch of people standing around like zombies, and then they would ring a bell.

That being said, since then God has opened my eyes to the TRUE gospel. And I refuse to have anything to do with the Catholic Church, no matter HOW bad the consequences may be for me or others.

This means....

No Chocolate bars from any Catholic Chuch, I will also not eat Halloween candy for much of the same reason.

I will not go to funerals or weddings held in a Catholic church.

I certainly would not attend a Mass. This is pure blasphemy saying Jesus comes back in the flesh every Sunday, when the Bible says every knee will bow and every eye will see when he returns.

I will have nothing, Zero to do with them.

Especially after those priest got off the hook and retirement plans for what they did to those kids.

Even though I never believed the teachings of the Catholic Church, I still had a hard time letting go of that perspective and framework for understanding the world as that was the world I was brought up in. What a relief it was when I finally had an epiphany of sorts and was able to let go of that crazy view of the world.

i was also brought up catholic and no longer practice as far as physiological effects i would say that if you were brought up to believe certain aspects of this religion and you no longer do, than it wouldn't be something that has effected you psychologically. If you are open minded and willing to learn what other religions are about and come to your own conclusion than i think your in pretty good shape! hope you find some answer to what you believe in your heart and have a great day! :)

Yes, the catholic Church really messed with my mind.

I was brought up believing that if you even LOOKED at a woman, you were going to hell!

Never had a girlfriend through age of 18.

The thing about the Catholic Church, is that they don't wnt anyone reading the Bible for themselves. We were taught only to believe what the CHURCH taught.

Purgatory remains very lots a factor of Catholic doctrine, so i don't know why you have been led to have faith that it is not. Purgatory is the area the place souls are cleansed of their attachment to sin and worldliness so as that they are in positive condition for Heaven. God is so holy that He can not look upon sin, and demise does not make you perfect -- it basically makes you ineffective. that's why maximum souls could be purified previously they're waiting for Heaven. think of which you have spent the completed day determining interior the chilly and the rain. you're muddy, you do not precisely scent like a rose, and your outfits are filthy. you have a social gathering to bypass to that night, so what do you do? you'll be able to desire to bypass as you're, in spite of the shown fact that it does not be very lots exciting for you or the different visitors. maximum human beings decide to take a tub and get wiped clean up so as that they could take exhilaration in the social gathering and being with different human beings. Purgatory is something like that. the two good judgment and Scripture** help the belief of a cleansing state for souls that are saved yet that have not been made perfect yet. the thought is likewise an historical one among the Jews, besides. November is the month of the Holy Souls, yet Catholics are inspired to wish, provide alms, and make sacrifices all year long on behalf of the souls in Purgatory. we will not purchase their way out of Purgatory as some human beings think of, yet we are in a position to help them in techniques that in the time of basic terms God can relatively be suggested to comprehend. So everywhere to procure your suggestion, your source became incorrect. Purgatory remains very lots a factor of Catholic concept and religious practices. **Catholic Bibles, it relatively is. Protestants bumped off all references to Purgatory (the Books of I and II Maccabees, case in point) as a results of fact they contradicted the Protestant rejection of a purgatorial state after dying.

Most of our morals as adults come form our parent's morals as we grew up. That means that a lot of your morals probably come from the basic beliefs of the Bible and Catholism and most likely they will manifest themselves in your political opinions about certain issues, your ethical standards, and what you teach your children.

There's actually a term: "Recovering Catholic".

Recovering Catholics tend to have continuing issues with guilt, and other things they have been taught are bad or wrong.

It depends on the person . . . some will feel a sense of freedom at no longer being bound to a doctrine and worldview they cannot accept; others may sense a feeling of acute loss and try to search for a meaning to life in a variety of other ways.
