So i'm helping my friend dye her hair. she wants to put blue and ice blonde highlights in it (her hair will be a very dark brown). I've only done highlights on the top part of hair and i used a foil to do that.

can you do it the same way (with foil) all the way throughout so the colors dont get on any other part of the hair??

also...whats the best way to put the colors in?? just random places or blue blonde blue blonde?? they will be small streaks also

***dont sit here and say go to a professional. shes used the colors before and i did the top layers before and they came out great. i just need to know about all around highlights (what i explained above)

deffinalty dont go for the cap, because as much as you dont want the bleach or the blue color getting on to her brown hair you dont want them mixing together either i would suggest doing a full foil in which you can part the hair off into sections, whatever is easy for you, a full head foil is going to be a lenghty project no matter what, and if you are a novice and you are really worried about the colors bleeding ive got a couple suggestions, one would be to use a foil on foil method, rather than doing each foil individualy and folding it into a packet, insead place the foils back to back, using something like conditioner on the hair you do not want to dye, ex take your first parting apply the color/bleach place another foil directly on top of that one, take your next parting and use the back of that foil as your new one, place the other color on or the conditioner if its the hair you would like to keep natural adn continue the process, place anothe foil on top of that n so on n so forth, another opiton i would suggest would if you want the streaks noticable but yet still sutle, you can take a section from the top of her head and put it in a pony or clip and then place the foils randomly or in some sort of pattern around the rest of the head and that way even if you make some little mistakes you wont be able to see them beacuse the hair will lay nicely over the top and the streaks will be peaking through. also if you think a full head foil will be too much work you can always do a partial on the top and then lift the hair up and place a few foils on the bottom near the nape area to give the illusion of a full foil. that way when she puts her hair up into a pony or in pins it will appear that there are streaks throuought. good luck! feel free to shoot an email if this was confusing in anyway!!!

You're going to have to do a double process on the ice blond so that must be done first. DO NOT use foil for that portion of the process since the bleach must be washed out before the next step. Use a pro cap! When her hair comes up white (you'll need boosters) wash the bleach off and remove the cap. Now you go to foil for the blue portion and you'll be able to see where the blonde will be. After that shampoo the whole head and dry in. Choose the toner for your white ice look and put in on all over the head...it won't effect any other portion but the white blond. Be very careful there is no breakage in the bleach portion or her hair will be on the floor when you remove the cap! That's why pros tell you to let the pros handle it...I'm a pro but good luck!

you can foil each strand of hair all the way down to the end, do it blue blonde blue blonde, not randomly, that never works. Pulling it throught a cap is the best though

i would say the best way would be to pull it thru a cap and not use foil... there is less of a chance of getting the color on the darker hair.
