of my 1 month old daughter. The father left when I was pregnant and both of my parents work. So i'm having to struggle between taking care of her and finishing up the first semester of the tenth grade. I'm far behind, and have been researching alternatives to completing high school. I've talked to my parents and they have agreed that I could just spend the next half a year studying to take the ged (my state allows us to take at 16). Then afterwards go straight into college we've both researched the college (Gwinnett Technical College) and its seems it would be possible for me to get in and start my first 2 years there and then transfer to Auburn (I want to be a vet) and it says the courses are transferable. Going this way seems to be a better choice than struggling through homeschooling when I could just go on weekends at Gwinnett. Then there would be more time with my child and i'de be getter my college edjucation done faster. The question i'm asking is there anything I am overlooking

No, it sounds to me like you have researched this very well. I would just make sure, with Auburn, what courses are transferable and what grades they will transfer (many colleges require a B to transfer).

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but am glad to hear that you are taking it head on and doing your best. GOOD LUCK!!

You are correct. Get the diploma. It looks better to colleges and future employers alike. It is the decision which lasts a lifetime. Remember, sometimes the people looking at your resumé are also looking at thousands of others. If yours is the same down the line except for the GED vs. someone else who has a diploma, the diploma is most likely to win out 95% of the time.

As long as you are sure you can get into the first college you are looking at at that age with a GED, go for that, you need all the advantages you can get having to raise a baby at your age without her father.

I also had a Baby at the age of 15..then later got my G.E.D.
however i recommend that you go to High School..because they will teach you things there that you can't learn with a G.E.D....and although they are supposed to amount to the same schooling..you will find that not every one will go by that rule.

I'd go with the GED / college idea. Best of luck.

If you're homeschooling yourself, you'll learn things you already know. Any educational option that involves someone else's supervision, even part time, is preferable.
