I mean what is the whole point of going to college, and when you graduate you can't get a job. It's so stupid, and then your parents will get upset at you if you say i don'. I know some people with master's degrees, and they can't find a job. College is good at the same time, but I don't think people should put much hype on it. Do you think college is the new high school diploma, and do you think it is worthless???

People with a college degree typically earn a lot more than the average high school graduate, and are more likely to get considered for positions than those who don't have a degree.

If you think it's hard to find a good job even with a degree, try finding one without it! College is not a waste of time; it is an important investment in your future.

Watch a documentary on the working poor in America, and you will understand that a college degree IS important.

No I do not agree that college is worthless. But I do agree that some college degrees are at this point not worth pursuing because of a lack of jobs in those fields.

Sometimes it can take awhile to find a job in the field that you've trained for - also there are some people who are just not willing to move to where the jobs are located. Not to mention the folks who think that just because they have a college degree that they should get better than an entry level position.

I knew many people who had general liberal arts degrees who could not get jobs. Why? Because the degree was so general that the pool of applicants for every job was huge. Those who studied for degrees with harder classes or more stringent requirements didn't have nearly the problem finding work. Any degree that offers some hands on training much better prepares the student to work in the real world.

It is likely that more people today than ever before have their college degree - but there are still an incredible number that do not, they may not even have a high school degree.

I will say that lots of kids go off to college not having any idea of what they really want to do with their lives - so waste time bouncing around majors and ultimately ending up with a less "powerful" degree than they might have otherwise had. Perhaps it is time to start encouraging students take a year or two after high school to work in jobs as close to the field they think they are interested in and give it a try. Maybe even set up a job swapping program that lets young adults try their hand at many jobs to see what they really like. Then when it is time for them to go to school they are 1- more mature than they otherwise would have been starting college and 2 - better focused on what they want to do with the rest of their lives.

A college degree still opens more doors today than a high school degree does and that's not likely to change.

You are correct in that college is the HS diploma. While it is true some people do have a difficult time finding a job at first.... That may because of several factors such as they are being too picky about where they apply or are so highly trained in an area that there is only a tiny niche they will fit into in their field.

I do think college is good. It broadens your learning base. I allows you to live on your own for the first time. And without that sheep skin from college, you are not going to find very many good paying jobs. And you will earn approximately $400,000.00 more in your career than you would without a diploma
