My puppy is only 8 weeks old and i'm currently housetraining her with a crate and so forth, and she is in between sets of shots so she can't have her second set until the 25th, because of this i am careful about not taking her where other dogs and puppies have been but i do take her outside to potty and in the past few days she has been scratching behind her ears. So my question is, if she isn't around other dogs how is she getting fleas, if thats what they are, and why haven't we (people) gotten anything like it, if its around where i live? Btw, i bathed her last night, so she is clean.

If they do jump on people and i'm not itchy then what do you think she has? Why is she scratching then? I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

When you take her out in the yard to go to the bathroom, she picks up fleas. You can spray your yard for fleas. Go to your local feed or yard store, and they should have something you can use. Just be careful with any type of poison like that around your puppy.
Good luck.

Fleas live in the environment i.e outside, but will happily enter a house through an open door or a window crack if there are animals inside. Fleas can sense body heat, carbon dioxide (from breathing) and vibrations caused by movement. It's how they find their food, so if you've got an animal they will happily set up house in your home - feed off the animal and breed in the carpets.
Dog fleas will bite humans, but dogs are their definitive hosts which is why you tend to find them running all over the animal, happily feeding. Humans will get the odd bite, but if you're not particularly sensitive to them you might not notice. All humans and animals have differing sensitivity to fleas - some animals can have quite an infestation without much scratching, and some animals will go crazy and get skin infections from just a couple of bites.
This puppy needs flea treatment - most do. It's a myth that keeping animals indoors and away from others will save them from fleas. Go to a vets for a proper and safe treatment - do stay away from pet store products. At 8 weeks of age your pup is old enough for a Frontline spot-on, or Advantage or Revolution. Go get some!

Flea Baths are complete of too a lot chemical substances for a puppy do not DO IT! A puppy is small, this is fur is skinny, only fill the bath or sink and carry the canine in with in worry-free words this is head sticking out.. quite quickly you'll see some drowning fleas scamper to the accurate for protection, you are able to then comb them off with a flea comb, or inspite of. Use a gentle dishsoap, or infant shampoo, you'll have the means to ascertain each of the fleas once the puppy is moist, only p.c.. em off, this may grant a lot of relief on your puppy, then once you are able to, pass to a vet and get a flea clinical care proper for domestic dogs. sturdy success!

You need to check her closely for fleas. You'll see little black dots that move and black spects that are dirt from the fleas.
She could easily have ear mites that you wont be able to see with out going to the vet.
There are a ton of skin infections including mange that causes scratching.
I would take her to the vet if she scratches more than just to scratch an iche.
Also if she got fleas it probably from going out on the grass. And you can bring fleas in on your own cloths.
Lucky you if fleas dont bit you because humans can and do get bit by fleas too.

well, you can't be sure it's fleas unless you see fleas on her... there are multiple other skin problems that can cause itchiness... since it's just around her ears, there's a possibility that it could be ear mites... look inside her ears for redness and irritation... there is medicine available from veterinarians for mites... if it is fleas, you will not be able to use any flea shampoos for at least another month... using a puppy shampoo and leaving it on her for 10 minutes before rinsing will kill fleas, however... if it continues to be a problem, i'd bring her to the vet before her next shots to find out what the problems is...

fleas live in your yard...in the grass...everywhere...you never have to come into contact with a dog to get flea bit. get some of the granuals that treat your yard for bugs...fleas...ticks...and so forth and put it on your yard.you can walk out in your yard and come back in the house and bring fleas in the house, they are everywhere. don't let anyone tell you you have to be around an animal to be around fleas.

Well, puppies can get fleas as easily as full grown dogs. From being in cantaminaded areas. and sometimes they are actully BORN w/ them. Believe it or not. Get Puppie Flea shampoo. But try to get lavender flea shampoo. Lavender, believe it or not, helps ward of fleas and ticks.
