Any flea spray from a vets will work pretty well, but if you're not keen on spraying pesticides, use Skoosh, from a vets, it's pesticide free - kills fleas, eggs and larve by coating them with a silicone spray. It's a new product, just ask a vet they should be able to order it in even if they don't stock it.

Ok, get a vet approved flea killer. Ok, you can get cat pills, I've just gave them to my cat and they make all the fleas die off them. Ok and as for the house thing, VACUUM regularly ! Ok, here is a simple thing to do, ok :
1. De-flea the animals
2. Spray the rooms, then keep the door shut for about 30 mins for it settle in
3. Wash the bed clothes, fleas live in them
4. Hoover the tiny sides between the carpet/flooring cuz fleas live there too !
5. After 30 mins, hoover the room and then wait about another 8 hours and do the same process until the fleas die down.
remeber ALWAYS KEEP THE DOOR SHUT WHEN THE ROOM HAS BEEN SPRAYED !
This could kill the cat aswell as the fleas
Hope I help !

You will need to fumigate the house at least once (and perhaps twice), using preparations which are available at hardware and pet stores. The cat and gerbils will need to be out of the house while this is being done; it will take several hours for the gas attack to kill the fleas.

you are going to need to "bomb" the house to kill the fleas that have moved in with your cat.. there are some that are environmentally friendly, but you will most likely have to vacate the house with your pets during this process.. i have used the Raid brand on few times, they work well.. but they are highly toxic, would not recommend for a house with young kids..

frontline plus is better, personal observation.. however I would use borax on all the carpet etc, in the laundry detergent isle (green box) sprinkle and then let sit overnight and vacuum. repeat every few days. it can be used on furniture and around pets and kids is safe. all it does is dehydrates the little buggers and they dry up and die.
