I think it is very poor policy to hire out to private military organizations. You can spin it any way you want, but it all boils down to a mercenary project. It is all about the money...and unfortunately they only police themselves. Keep private military out of our conflicts...only bad will happen and corruption and scandle. Our government should never fork out a dime to mercs that our own military is getting paid mere pennies to what we are paying them to do that same job...and with loyalty to our country and fellow soldiers...not a pay scale.

Considering that the liberals have been going down the list of people to slander - it is inevitable that Blackwater will get their turn.

Blackwater is in Iraq providing security for the US State Department, NGOs and commercial companies. I suspect that the true motivation for attacking Blackwater is to force US troops to guard private business interests so they can claim that the US troops are there only for Bush's business interests.

Ever notice how none of the people attacking Blackwater have even bothered to ask them to give their side of the story? Even worse - none of the people attacking Blackwater have any real idea of exactly what they are contracted to do?

Hint: if you think that Blackwater are mercenaries - you need to look up the term and compare it to what they are doing in Iraq.

You're so very correct! However, the administration realizes that if they withdraw all of the private military contracters out of Iraq, the only way they could continue to fight this stupid war would be to have a draft. They don't want that, because then people will really get mad...

in 2 years blackwater had 200 shooting incidents, 80% of them backwater shot first or was the only one shooting, what does that tell you?

they are not there to defend anything, i know one of these guys, they would be locked up here, it was regular duty for them to drive down the road and take pot shots at civilians just for practice.

Honestly, I was concerned about them before the incident broke the news. Blackwater's own website convinced me they might be up to no good (it had links to news that was bad PR for them....). I was surprised they ever saw mainstream media attention.
