Yes, there are many people that think like you. Those who are calling you names and dismissing the ideas you express are saying more about themselves than you. There are many truths communicated through many different religions and if you take some time to look at them you will see these same themes you are trying to express repeated within those beliefs. There is no reason to prematurely acquiesce to the pressures others put on you to conform to their way of thinking. An open mind will serve you well, just refuse to decide and keep looking.

That's a Buddhistic view of spirituality. Since many millions of others have followed that very path before it has some validity so more power to ya.
Don't worry about God, heaven and hell. Follow what your inner spirit says, not some flesh-and-blood person.
Look at it this way: if it is true that we were created in God's image, than how can any honest expression of spirituality be anything but an expression of God's own sprituality manifested?

There are deep meditative experiences, like the experience of pure consciousness, that are referenced in mystical traditions world wide. Some of these traditions (including Sufism, Christian Desert Fathers, etc.) associate this experience with a deity. Of course, there is nothing in the experience that suggests it represents anything external, it could simply be an anamoly of the nervous system.
As far as mind states and "heaven and hell", many Chan/Zen stories take the perspective you take, and it seems much more reasonable.

the way a idea is shaped and is universally time-honored takes time. The video is amazingly informative yet i visit describe how a hypothesis will change right into a idea. 1st data are amassed up. those data are irrefutable yet they don't clarify a procedure or a form of prevalence. Ex. The sky is blue. reality. notwithstanding it does not clarify how the sky became blue. 2d Step is to collect more desirable data to form an option hypothesis. There are 2 varieties of hypothesis null and option. To simplify the null hypothesis says the alternative hypothesis is pretend. Ex. The sky is blue because God made it that way. it truly is the alternative hypothesis. considering God isn't a reality nor could nicely be shown the alternative hypothesis is rejected and null hypothesis is time-honored that "God did not make the sky blue". third Step is that if an option hypothesis is actual then it truly is examined repeatedly. Ex. Erik Erikson psychosocial developmental idea. The hypothesis to Erik Erikson's idea is then examined repeatedly. it appears that evidently the idea is precise. 4th once theories are examined repeatedly it change into time-honored by using the clinical community. notwithstanding it does not recommend a idea is continuously one hundred% fantastic. If some scientists hit upon some flaws the idea slowly will change into changed. Ex. Freud idea of penis envy in little women. This idea could were time-honored a lengthy time period in the past contained in the toddler ranges of psychology yet in as we talk's international it type of feels ridiculous. idea is examined repeatedly. it may nicely be changed slowly and gives you a sturdy rationalization of issues. purely because something is unknown does not recommend it truly is an act of God. it truly is a hypothesis yet to be proposed, examined, and change into idea. technology is continuously evolving.

Not so bad. I'm sure many of us consider heaven and hell metaphors, not for some life after our bodily death, but as a condition in which we live our daily lives. I'm still working on your idea of God, him/herself, as a metaphor for the subconscious. Religion, or at least Western religion, is certainly metaphor-like, in its attempt to explain the infinite with a finite vocabulary.

I've wondered the same thing to be honest.
I think that's why I feel so attracted to Buddhism.
I answered a previous question on the Four Noble Truths, have a look at the links I included in my answer and you find that your theory isn't just a bunch of crap (like someone people seem to be thinking...)

Santa Claus is a metaphor for the spirit of giving, and the tooth fairy is a metaphor for poor dental health?
Not everything requires a metaphor. A myth is a way for people who don't understand some aspect of the world to give it meaning.

God is not a metaphor. God is a man made idea. God is like santa clause. And heaven and hell do not exist.
