I tried doing a little search through some Polish foods. I couldn't find anything at all that combines these ingredients. It sounds like a breakfast dish. And it sounds like it might just be something that her father made up. Sorry

Try searching for Polish forums online and post the question there, too. You might have better luck than here. I also did a little search for Polish recipes with bacon and can't find anything. Isn't there anyone else in the family who remembers this dish? Maybe if enough people have enough parts of it, it can be figured out.

I'm Polish (part anyway), and I'm not sure what this is.

I found this recipe under Lithuanian cooking: From the sound of yours, the only difference is that this one has shredded potatoes in it. Could this be it?

KUGELI (Lithuanian)

1 lg. onion (minced)
8 potatoes
4 eggs
Salt to taste
1/2 glass milk
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Brown onions in butter (or butter) and cool. Grate potatoes, add eggs, milk and butter with onions, also salt. Add flour and mix well. Bake in 400 degree oven until brown (about 1 1/3 to 1 1/4 hours). Enjoy with sour cream if so desired.

Polish is spelt with a capital P, unless you mean polish as in boots !
