No, bad breath cannot be induced by mere thinking. Some of the conditions that trigger bad breath and halitosis include: A dry mouth, thick saliva, excess mucus in the throat, post nasal drip, a diet high in protein , smoking, alcohol, hormonal changes, medications which have dry mouth as a side effect (eg. antidepressants, antihistamines), history of diabetes, special types of diets and finally, excessive use or oral products that contain alcohol and sodium lauryl sulfate.
I suggest seeing your dentist to find out which of these is causing your bad breath. The leading cause of bad breath is dry mouth, because anaerobic bacteria, the bacteria that gives off the odor, develops faster in dry environments. The reason why chewing gum probably makes you sick is because most of contains saccharin, a sugar that actually feeds the bacteria.
I recommend Therabreath to cure your bad breath. I've been using it for a few months and it has been consistent in keeping away my bad breath. What it does is keep oxygen in your mouth so it's never dry and bacteria doesn't develop. Their mouthwash doesn't contain alcohol. Do you know that other mouthwashes have enough alcohol to get you drunk? You shouldn't use mouthwash that is alcohol based. Sugar based gum and alcohol based mouthwash makes your breath smell worse.

You could have a gum or tooth problem. Gum disease causes bad breath. So does the foods you eat. Try brushing your tongue gently with listerine. And go get a dental check up. Flossing is also very impotant. You don't want that piece of steak hanging aroung in there for a week or so until you floss. Good luck.

When in doubt, use mouthwash!!! It's not just you that has bad breath, the whole world will have it if they don't brush their teeth enough. Always brush your teeth at least twice a day, and to be extra careful, try after every snack/meal. Remember to use mouthwash if it still smells bad.

thinking too much will not cause bad breath. but having a dirty mouth and forgetting to brush and keep teeth clean can cause bad breath. there are lots of bad breath cause like dry mouth, medications, gum disease, eating garlicky meal, sinus and stomach related problems.
treating bad breath will also depend on the cause of it. seek the help of a dentist to know what is the reason for bad breath. make sure that you have proper oral hygiene. brushing and flossing teeth every after meal can help eliminate bad breath.
avoid chewing gum for it can only contribute to bad breath to become worse.
